According to WP and Sputnik, the Washington Post (WP) cited sources saying that European politicians are concerned that the US could end weapons maintenance in the EU due to President Donald Trump's policy towards NATO allies.
The newspaper notes that the use and maintenance of some systems and weapons, by regulation, must be carried out by US citizens, which worries European politicians.
Additionally, there may be some restrictions on European weapons manufactured with US components.
"There's no way President Trump can just push a button and all the planes will fall out of the sky... But there's a dependency issue," a source said.
In early March, NBC News cited a source in the US administration saying that Mr. Trump could refuse to defend a NATO partner country if it did not fully comply with its defense spending obligations.
Mr Trump has repeatedly criticised Europe for its low contribution to NATO's defence capabilities and demanded that all member states increase defence spending to 5% of GDP.
Meanwhile, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth assured that the US has no plans to reduce its military presence in Europe./.
