How to make coffee to optimize visceral fat loss
A new study from Denmark published in the journal MDPI shows that the compound cafestol in coffee can help reduce visceral fat if used in the right dosage, but caution is still needed for people at risk of cardiovascular disease.
In the 12-week study, 40 participants consumed 6 mg of cafestol per day in two divided doses, equivalent to about 2 to 4 cups of coffee.
Results showed an average reduction of 0.88 kg in body weight and 5% in visceral fat, along with significant improvements in liver function indices.
Notably, participants did not need to change their diet or increase their exercise to achieve positive effects from drinking coffee properly.

Cafestol is a fat-soluble compound found in high concentrations in unfiltered coffee – coffee that is brewed without using a paper or cloth filter to remove oils and grounds.
Popular brewing methods include French Press, Moka Pot, and Ibrik. Unlike regular paper filter coffee, these coffees retain all of their natural oils and cafestol compounds, which may offer the potential to aid in reducing visceral fat.
However, experts warn against overusing cafestol.
The dose in the study did not increase cholesterol. However, many previous studies have shown that consuming more than 10 mg of cafestol per day over a long period of time can increase LDL cholesterol – also known as bad cholesterol – thereby affecting cardiovascular health.
People with a history of medical conditions related to blood lipids and cardiovascular disease should consider carefully and can have regular blood lipid tests to monitor the body's response when applying this method.
Not only the dosage, but also the way of drinking affects the effectiveness. Instead of drinking it all at once, users should sip it slowly and drink enough water during the day to limit dehydration due to the diuretic effect of coffee.
Choosing the brewing tool is also important, you should prioritize a French Press, moka pot or Ibrik, avoid using regular paper filters because they will remove almost all of the cafestol.
Do not abuse coffee to lose weight
Despite its potential to aid weight loss, health experts stress that coffee is not a primary method for weight control.
Cafestol should only be considered as a supplement. To lose weight sustainably and safely, it should be combined with a balanced diet, prioritizing a breakfast rich in protein and vegetables, a full-energy lunch and a light dinner, limiting starch.
Along with that, regular exercise every day, as simple as a 15-minute brisk walk or light abdominal exercises, will help boost metabolism and maximize fat burning.
Researchers say the visceral fat-reducing benefits of cafestol are a remarkable finding, opening up a new approach to weight control through small daily habits.
However, users need to understand their limits, listen to their bodies and combine with a healthy lifestyle to achieve sustainable results without causing health risks.
