On August 19, at Khai Long hamlet, Dat Mui commune, Ca Mau province, comrade Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Minister of National Defense - attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ca Mau - Cai Nuoc; Cai Nuoc - Dat Mui expressway project, the traffic route to Hon Khoai island and Hon Khoai dual-use general port.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Minister of National Defense - affirmed that the investment in projects such as the Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway Project, Hon Khoai Port, and the road from Khai Long to Hon Khoai are of special importance. Building Hon Khoai into the southernmost continent of the Fatherland.
To implement the project, the Ministry of National Defense surveyed and issued an emergency order. The military corporations implemented 3 resolutions: On schedule; Ensuring quality; Applying technology, ensuring safety. Construction was carried out with the determination of 3 readiness: 3 shifts, 4 teams working across time, ensuring all aspects to complete the project on schedule.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province Pham Thanh Ngai was very happy and moved to be present at Dat Mui Ca Mau - the sacred southernmost point of the Fatherland, a heroic land rich in revolutionary traditions with the immortal spirit of Hon Khoai Uprising, to witness the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway, the traffic route to Hon Khoai island, Hon Khoai dual-use port, part of the program of inauguration and groundbreaking ceremonies of projects and works to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam organized by the Central Government in the form of direct and online simultaneously nationwide. This is an important political event that the Party Committee, government and people of Ca Mau province are looking forward to.
Mr. Ngai added that with the attention of the Party and the State, in recent times, a number of key projects have been and are being focused on implementation, thereby gradually solving and effectively removing traffic infrastructure bottlenecks for the region. Currently, the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway and other expressway construction investment component projects across the country are being drastically accelerated, with the determination to connect the entire North - South expressway in the East from Cao Bang - Lang Son to Ca Mau in 2025. Following this North - South vertical expressway, the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway with a length of about 82 km, planned with 4 lanes, will seamlessly connect the expressway to the Ca Mau Cape area - the southernmost point of the country.
Along with that, the traffic route to Hon Khoai Island and Hon Khoai Dual-Use Port will connect the island cluster with the mainland, promote and effectively exploit the potential and unique advantages. This is a lever to develop the Hon Khoai island cluster to be strong in economy, stable in national defense and security, oriented to become the "Southernmost continent" of the country according to the conclusion of General Secretary To Lam during his visit and work in Ca Mau province at the end of 2024. These projects and works are all strategic, opening up new development space, creating strong momentum and being an important breakthrough for Ca Mau province to rise in the new era - the era of national rise.

The Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway is nearly 93 km long, an important driving force project, forming a strategic traffic axis from the center of Ca Mau province to the southernmost point.
The expressway is divided into two sections: Ca Mau - Cai Nuoc section (42 km long); Cai Nuoc - Dat Mui section (over 50 km long), meeting class A expressway standards, 4 lanes, with emergency lanes. The roadbed is 24.75 m wide, expected to be completed in phase 2025 - 2028.
The Hon Khoai dual-use port project is being built in Dat Mui commune with a 1,000 m long wharf, a capacity of 20 million tons/year, and can receive ships up to 250,000 DWT. The total investment of Hon Khoai port is expected to be about 15,000 billion VND.
In order to synchronize with Hon Khoai Dual-Use Port, the Road Project to Hon Khoai Island (the road connecting the mainland to Hon Khoai Port) will be invested in construction with a total investment of about 25,715 billion VND, designed with 4 lanes according to the standards of a level 3 plain road, a design speed of 80 km/h, and a road width of 16.5 m.
At this time, 4 other important projects and works in Ca Mau province, including: Ca Mau Airport expansion and upgrade project, Social housing project in new urban area, Hamlet 5, Ward 1, Bac Lieu Sports Complex project, Ca Mau - Dam Doi road upgrade and expansion project are also being inaugurated and started construction at the same time.
These projects and works are vivid evidence of the deep concern of the Party and State for the development of Ca Mau. At the same time, this is also the result of the consensus and high determination of the entire political system, the business community, and each Ca Mau citizen in the cause of building and developing their homeland.
