25 years of Hanoi University of Science and Technology's cooperation in training with BOKU University

On September 5, at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), a program was held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of cooperation in training and research between Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and BOKU University.

Attending the ceremony were leaders of the two universities, lecturers, scientists specializing in life sciences, and Vietnamese undergraduate and graduate students studying and researching at BOKU University.

In particular, the ceremony was also honored with the presence of Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of Austria, Dr. Vu Le Thai Hoang.

The ceremony marked an important milestone in the 25-year history of cooperation between Hanoi University of Science and Technology and BOKU with proud achievements and figures such as training more than 10 masters and doctoral students, conducting hundreds of exchanges of lecturers, scientists and students, successfully implementing many EU-funded training and research cooperation projects, publishing more than 30 publications and scientific works in ISI/Scopus journals, more than 20 co-authored conference papers, and successfully organizing many international scientific forums.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of Austria Dr. Vu Le Thai Hoang congratulated the achievements over 25 years of cooperation between the two universities.

At the ceremony, Prof. Eva Schulev-Steindl, President of BOKU University, expressed her joy and pride in the quarter-century of cooperation between the two universities. The success lies not only in the achievements in training and research, but also in the building of close relationships between lecturers and scientists, in the trust in cooperation and contribution to the scientific and technological development of the two countries.

Associate Professor Huynh Quyet Thang, Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, shared at the ceremony about the results of the cooperation that have contributed significantly to professional development, especially the students and staff trained and researched at BOKU University, the advanced academic environment has become excellent scientists and lecturers, holding key positions at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

They have affirmed their expertise, brought their own knowledge and experience to continue training talented students of the school, continued to build and foster strong relationships with BOKU lecturers, developed sustainable expertise and academics, and this is the most meaningful thing in the cooperation between the two universities.

Associate Professor Huynh Quyet Thang also highly appreciated the support of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Austria. The Embassy of the Republic of Austria in Vietnam has always paid attention to and supported the training and scientific research cooperation programs of universities in Vietnam and the Republic of Austria.

In addition to the working program at BOKU University, the delegation led by Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Associate Professor Huynh Quyet Thang, visited and worked at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Austria and Slovenia in the capital Vienna.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of Austria, Dr. Vu Le Thai Hoang, congratulated the achievements over 25 years of cooperation between the two universities. The cooperation has not only been successful in terms of academics and science and technology, but has also made important contributions to promoting multi-faceted cooperation in training, research, innovation and technology transfer, contributing to promoting digital transformation, green transformation and sustainable development in the era of national development.

Looking back at the cooperation journey starting from the main research on Enzyme technology in 2001 with the participation of a group of staff and lecturers, over the years, the cooperation has been increasingly expanded and developed in many new research directions, building a training cooperation model closely combined with scientific research, attracting many professional groups and many students of the two universities, building and developing a network between universities and businesses of the two countries.

This sets the right direction and creates sustainable development in cooperation.

Following the successes achieved, at the ceremony, lecturers, scientists and students enthusiastically discussed new directions to create breakthroughs in science and technology, train talented people and good experts and solve common challenges in the fields of food technology, biotechnology, chemistry and environmental science.

Ideas for developing training and research programs in the fields of climate change response, food safety, green transformation, and emission reduction were put forward to further promote academic exchanges between lecturers and students, seek new funding opportunities, and exploit the research potential of both sides.

Through the ceremony, both universities affirmed that, based on the achievements they have made, they will continue to foster, further tighten and promote sustainable cooperation, build a typical cooperation model to spread academic values ​​and contribute more to the development of science and technology, economy and society of the country.
