On September 11, the Vietnam Cyberspace Emergency Response Center (VNSERT) announced the incident of personal data leakage at the National Credit Information Center.
Specifically, on September 10, the Center received a report of a cyber security incident and signs of personal data breach occurring at the National Credit Information Center.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention ( Ministry of Public Security ) directed the Vietnam Cyberspace Emergency Response Center to coordinate with professional units to coordinate with enterprises providing network information security services (Viettel, VNPT, NCS), the National Credit Information Center, and functional units of the State Bank to verify information about the incident, deploy professional measures, incident response techniques, strengthen network security solutions, collect data and evidence for handling according to the provisions of law.
Initial verification results show signs of cybercrime attacks and intrusions to steal personal data. The amount of illegally acquired data is being further counted and clarified.
The Vietnam Cyber Emergency Response Center requests that organizations and individuals do not arbitrarily download, share, exploit, or use the above data. In case of intentional violation, they will be handled according to the provisions of law.
The Center recommends that agencies and businesses, especially financial and banking institutions, proactively review and implement compliance with TCVN 14423:2025 - Network security, requirements for important information systems.
The Vietnam Cyber Emergency Response Center also recommends that people raise their vigilance against cybercrime activities, and avoid being exploited by the above information to spread malware, commit fraud, and appropriate property./.
