According to information from Thuy Dong Agricultural Service Cooperative (Cam Thuy Commune, Cam Lo, Quang Tri Province), after 10 years of planting and caring, the cooperative's FSC-certified large-scale intensive timber forest area has begun to be exploited, bringing high economic value.

The FSC-certified large-scale intensive forestation model was planted by Thuy Dong Agricultural Service Cooperative on an area of over 40 hectares. During the implementation process, the Quang Tri Provincial Agricultural Extension Center supported each hectare with 1,650 hybrid acacia cuttings, fertilizers, and techniques.

Currently, the cooperative has exploited large areas of timber forests in the 10-year cycle with high productivity, averaging 257 tons per hectare, of which wood with a diameter of over 12 cm accounts for 68%. After deducting expenses, each hectare generates an income of nearly 250 million VND, 70 million VND higher than planting forests for wood chips; the cost is also lower because the investment is only made once, while planting forests for wood chips requires two investments in a 10-year cycle.

Planting large timber forests with FSC certification not only brings high economic efficiency but also contributes to protecting the ecological environment by changing farming methods, reducing the number of planting and exploitation times, thereby limiting soil erosion and leaching. In addition, large timber forests have the ability to absorb carbon, contributing to protecting the ecological environment and combating climate change.
