Second prize in the National Mathematical Olympiad for Students and Pupils
With a passion for mathematics and constant efforts throughout his university studies, Truong Le Gia Khanh graduated as valedictorian of the Mathematics Education Department at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education with a GPA of 3.89/4.0. Not only because of his valedictorian achievement, Khanh also left an impression with his courage and daring to challenge his own limits to gain a deeper understanding of the nature of knowledge on the academic path.
During his university journey, Gia Khanh's most notable achievement was the second prize in algebra at the 2022 National Mathematics Olympiad for Students and Pupils - a prestigious national competition organized by the Vietnam Mathematical Society. That year, after a 2-year interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the competition was held online with a strict monitoring process, with the teams taking the test on site, under the simultaneous monitoring of the organizing committee, camera system and cross-checking via Zoom. However, Khanh still performed very well in the competition and brought home admirable achievements.
“I don’t feel any pressure, the motivation is that I am on the team. Before that, to prepare for the official exam, I also did many exams from previous years to master the knowledge. During the exam, I was quite lucky to do my best and won the silver medal that year,” Khanh shared.
Khanh feels lucky because the exam has created many new opportunities for Khanh in studying and researching such as participating in international and student mathematics summer schools. This is the foundation for registering and passing major research programs in Vietnam such as: Vietnam Polymath REU, VinBigdata ADM with a high competition rate between students from the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University), University of Natural Sciences (Hanoi National University) and some Vietnamese students abroad such as the US, Korea...
In addition, for two consecutive years, Khanh won second and third prizes at the faculty-level scientific research student conference, with topics of application in teaching mathematics, winning many prestigious scholarships such as: Vallet scholarship for the 2022-2023 school year, Never Give Up scholarship for the 2024-2025 school year... Gia Khanh is also one of the few outstanding students to participate in the Application Driven Mathematics program organized by VinBigdata ( Vingroup Corporation), an intensive program for young people who intend to study for a doctorate at the world's leading universities.

Passionate about academic research
With a passion for learning and researching mathematics, Gia Khanh has carried out many research projects throughout his university years. Khanh began researching the topic of teaching mathematics in his early years of university; in his third and fourth years, Khanh's research projects focused on mathematics and applied mathematics.
Always curious about science, combined with a love and passion for mathematics research, Khanh decided to continue nurturing his dream of pursuing advanced research programs after university. It was not only a personal decision but also a desire to inspire and accompany Vietnamese students who have a passion for mathematics. To realize this dream, Khanh registered for doctoral programs abroad to further his knowledge. After completing his dream, Khanh will work at large enterprises and then return to teaching, Khanh shared.
