Realizing development aspirations
In October 2023, the people of Thanh Hoa ethnic groups happily welcomed the opening of 3 North-South expressway component projects in the East through the province, including: Mai Son - National Highway 45, National Highway 45 - Nghi Son and Nghi Son - Dien Chau. This event has opened up an important traffic artery along the North-South axis, shortening travel time from Hanoi to Nghe An, significantly reducing the load on National Highway 1 and expanding opportunities for inter-regional and inter-provincial cooperation.
To maximize the effectiveness of the national key project, Thanh Hoa has proactively proposed adding 2 more intersections with the North-South Expressway, bringing the total number of intersections through the province to 7. Along with that, the province has decided to invest more than 8,300 billion VND to build 4 new routes, renovate and upgrade 1 route connecting the expressway with Nghi Son seaport, airport and key traffic routes, creating momentum for urban areas, industry, tourism and high-tech agriculture .
With the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain", "3 shifts, 4 crews" construction, in the joy of the new year 2025, Thanh Hoa has officially opened the technical traffic of the Van Thien - Ben En road project and the road connecting National Highway 1 with National Highway 45. Sharing about these projects, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Mai Xuan Liem emphasized: "The project connecting National Highway 1 with National Highway 45 coming into operation shortens the travel time in the East - West direction when moving from the western localities of the province with National Highway 1, reducing traffic pressure through National Highways 45, 47, 217 to National Highway 1, ensuring the service of goods and passenger transportation. At the same time, creating development space, attracting investors to Phu Quy Industrial Park, Bac Hoang Hoa Industrial Park and Giang Quang Thinh Industrial Park, Thieu Quang commune. With the Van Thien - Ben En road project connecting from the North - South expressway with Ben En National Park and is The new route connecting to the center of Ben Sung town will create conditions to expand development space to the Southwest, effectively exploiting the potential and advantages of tourism, ecology, resorts and entertainment services of Ben En National Park.
With the available advantages of a 102km long coastline and a 17,000km2 territorial waters, there are many famous beautiful beaches such as Sam Son, Hai Tien, Hai Hoa, Tien Trang... In recent years, many large economic groups have been investing in tourism development in Thanh Hoa and have created large-scale marine tourism projects, such as: Sam Son Sea Square; Sun World Sam Son Water Park; Flamingo Ibiza Hai Tien... forming true "four-season" entertainment and resort spaces. Thereby, gradually turning Thanh Hoa into one of the attractive tourist destinations in the region and the whole country.
In particular, in May 2024, key projects under Resolution No. 303/NQ-HDND of the Provincial People's Council on a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Thanh Hoa City were continuously started, such as: Children's Cultural Palace and Sports Center Project; Hoi An Park Renovation and Upgrade Project; Le Loi Avenue Expansion Project, from Phu Son intersection to Dong Bridge; North-South Railway Overpass Project and the road at both ends of the bridge belonging to the East-West Highway. After completion, the projects will create momentum for urban development, increase the ability to attract investment, promote socio-economic development of the province, contributing to the implementation of Resolution No. 58-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the construction and development of Thanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
In the period of 2020-2025, the total mobilized social investment capital in the province reached more than 700,000 billion VND, 1.14 times higher than the period of 2015-2020. This resource has been transformed into modern key projects, affirming the increasingly strong position of Thanh Hoa on the national economic map. Breakthrough projects and works are invested, led and spread, creating new momentum for the province's socio-economy. This not only opens up job opportunities and increases income for people, but also affirms that Thanh Hoa is converging all the factors to accelerate, becoming a new growth pole in the North of the country.
Spreading power from key projects under construction
One of the key large-scale projects that has mobilized the active participation of authorities at all levels and the support of the people is the Hong Son Village Resettlement Area Project to serve the site clearance of the North-South High-Speed Railway Project through Thanh Hoa Province. The project is expected to contribute to accelerating the site clearance progress and stabilizing the lives, ensuring social security for households affected by the project. The North-South High-Speed Railway project passes through the province for more than 95km, with 1 station with a scale of 8ha and 3 maintenance stations with a scale of 3ha/station; the route passes through 7 wards and 12 communes. The project affects more than 8,600 households with an affected land area of more than 570ha to be recovered...
Van Thien - Ben En route creates new development space.
Realizing that the construction of resettlement infrastructure is the "key" step to promote site clearance, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee have paid attention, closely directed and mobilized the participation of the entire political system with high consensus and determination, promoting all resources of the province and localities to implement. Up to now, 40 resettlement areas serving the site clearance of the North-South High-Speed Railway Project through the province have been built. Of which, the My Phong area in Cong Chinh commune has been completed and contractors have been bid and selected for the construction of 3 areas in the communes of Ha Trung, Cong Chinh and Thang Binh, the remaining 36 areas are being urgently implemented.
In parallel with the resettlement project serving the North-South high-speed railway, Thanh Hoa province also pays special attention to social infrastructure works in the border area. Implementing the conclusions of the Politburo and the guidance of the central ministries and branches, the Provincial People's Committee has directed the survey, listing and proposing investment in 21 works in 2 years (2025-2026), with a total capital of about 1,590 billion VND. Of these, 6 works will start construction in 2025, with a total capital of 767 billion VND and 15 works will start construction in 2026, with a total capital of 823 billion VND. Typically, in August 2025, the Son Thuy Primary - Secondary Boarding School project with a scale of 30 classes, 750 students with a total investment of about 115 billion VND was started.
Sharing about this project, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dau Thanh Tung emphasized: "The project to upgrade and renovate Son Thuy Primary - Secondary Boarding School is extremely important. After the project is completed, it will meet the learning and living needs of children of ethnic minorities in Son Thuy commune, contributing to improving the quality of education, creating a foundation to promote socio-economic development in the border area of the province. In addition, in 2025, Thanh Hoa province will implement 5 other projects in the communes of Tam Lu, Tam Thanh, Na Meo, Yen Khuong and Bat Mot. These are all key projects, of special importance, need to be focused on directing and striving to complete before August 30, 2026 as required by the Politburo".
It can be affirmed that the resettlement projects and social infrastructure works being implemented in Thanh Hoa province are a testament to the province's high political determination and the consensus of the people, opening up new development opportunities, improving living standards, and ensuring social security.
