Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Le Huu Toan said that rice output in the first 8 months of the year reached nearly 6.49 million tons, reaching 73.72% of the planned output for 2025, of which more than 92,658 hectares of rice were produced in large fields linked to product consumption. Total output of exploitation and aquaculture is estimated at more than 1.13 million tons, reaching 74.3% of the yearly plan.
An Giang welcomed more than 18.27 million visitors, reaching 86.8% of the annual plan and increasing by 17.4% over the same period in 2024, of which international visitors are estimated at over 1.12 million, reaching 91.5% of the plan and increasing by 64.2% over the same period. Total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 47,669 billion, exceeding 21.3% of the plan and increasing by 76% over the same period.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, the work of restructuring the apparatus and streamlining the payroll continues to be implemented effectively. The province has completed a large amount of work on restructuring the administrative apparatus and synchronously operating the 2-level local government model from July 1, 2025.
Social security work is ensured, people's lives continue to improve. Political security, social order and safety are ensured. Medical work and people's health care are given attention. Many cultural, artistic and sports activities are organized thoughtfully, safely and practically; mass physical education and sports activities are organized regularly, contributing to caring for people's spiritual life.
Along with a series of correct policies of the Party and State, the province's persistent creative government has had a strong impact, helping the province develop comprehensively, especially in key industries and fields, promoting strengths, becoming an economic bright spot in the Mekong Delta region and the whole country.
Growth scenarios for key sectors
Prioritizing economic growth, the province aims to maintain double-digit growth to ensure a foundation for sustainable development. To achieve the above goal, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung directed the province to focus on implementing synchronous solutions to promote economic growth, attract investment, and support production and business enterprises. According to the Director of the Department of Tourism, based on a comprehensive assessment of the results achieved in the tourism sector, the Department proposed two options. For the 8.5% growth option, the tourism industry welcomes 22.92 million visitors, an increase of 8.88% of the plan, of which international visitors are more than 1.623 million, an increase of 32.27% of the plan; total tourism revenue reaches 63,400.6 billion VND, an increase of 61.32% of the plan. For option 2 of 10% growth, the industry strives to welcome 24.02 million visitors, an increase of 10.12% of the plan, of which international visitors are 1.662 million, an increase of 15.42% of the plan; total tourism revenue reaches 64,293.18 billion VND, an increase of 59.54% of the plan.
Mr. Bui Quoc Thai said that the tourism industry has proposed many solutions to realize the goal of making tourism a spearhead economic sector of the province; building policies to support the development of An Giang tourism; consulting the Central Government on the project to build Phu Quoc into a service center, high-quality eco-tourism, sea and island tourism of national and international stature. The tourism industry has also deployed the application of a website system project integrating virtual reality videos to promote tourism images, an online ticket purchasing system, a mobile application (Mobile app) and tourism image promotion activities...

The industry and trade sector aims to achieve an industrial production value of VND118,003 billion if economic growth reaches 8.5%; export turnover of USD2.3 billion; total retail sales of goods and service revenue, consumption of VND317,257 billion. To achieve 10% growth, exports must reach USD2.43 billion; industrial production value of VND121,623 billion. The sector is determined to develop the processing industry, especially deep processing to increase added value; support production and business, renew traditional growth drivers, strongly promote new growth drivers such as digital economy, green economy, circular economy... develop the domestic market associated with tourism and services.
Regarding the agricultural sector, Mr. Le Huu Toan said that the sector has promoted the implementation of potential areas such as increasing the rice area by an estimated 10,000 hectares, increasing output by 59,000 tons, GRDP by 124.7 billion VND; increasing freshwater fish farming output, GRDP by 341 billion VND; increasing 40,000 hectares of high-quality rice, output by 236,000 tons; vegetable production by 33.6 billion VND. At the same time, the sector has effectively implemented the agricultural restructuring program, sustainable agricultural and rural development; developing plant and animal varieties, supporting the issuance of planting area codes, and tracing the origin of products for domestic consumption and export.
With innovative thinking, vision and political determination, An Giang will effectively promote the "tripod" (industry, agriculture, trade, services and tourism), bringing the province's economy to a worthy development.
