Every young person must clearly understand: patriotism today means studying well, working well, having the desire to contribute, daring to innovate, living humanely and courageously. National pride is not only in empty slogans but also expressed in the ability to protect Vietnamese values amidst the myriad impacts of globalization.
From July 1, 2025, along with other localities, Dak Lak province merged with Phu Yen province (old) to form a new provincial-level administrative unit with an area of over 18,000 km2 (the third largest in the country) and a population of over 3.3 million people.
To support the smooth operation of two-level local government, Dak Lak Provincial Youth Union has established 102 youth volunteer teams in 102 communes and wards across the province to simultaneously deploy activities to support two-level government and provide online public services at the grassroots level.
Dak Lak Provincial Police established 110 youth volunteer teams, with 710 volunteers supporting the implementation of related administrative procedures in all localities. The green volunteer shirts have significantly contributed to the construction of digital government and digital society.
Through these concrete actions, the province’s youth have truly participated in the process of building a friendly government that serves the people. Each youth union member has demonstrated his or her enthusiasm and responsibility for the revolution of streamlining the apparatus; fostering patriotism and the desire to contribute.
On July 24, 2021, the Prime Minister issued Decision 1331/QD-TTg on the Vietnam Youth Development Strategy for the 2021-2030 period. This is a component part of the Socio -Economic Development Strategy for the 2021-2030 period, the Human Resource Development Strategy for the 2021-2030 period and the National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with a vision to 2030; in line with the United Nations' sustainable development goals, global and ASEAN youth development indicators. Youth are placed at the center of the strategy for nurturing and promoting human resources; at the same time, promoting their role as a great, proactive, creative, and pioneering social force in the cause of national construction and defense...
At the solemn session of the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union, term 2024 - 2029, General Secretary To Lam affirmed: "... whether the country can firmly enter the new era, the era of rising up or not, by 2045, can stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers as President Ho Chi Minh wished and the aspiration of the entire nation or not, depends greatly on the contribution of the youth force - the future generation of the country, those who will succeed their fathers and brothers to shoulder the task of building and defending the Fatherland...".
The positive impacts of international integration and the strong development of the economy, society, science and technology are creating a favorable environment for the learning, creativity and comprehensive development of the young generation; but also pose the inevitable requirement of renewing the content of education on patriotism and national consciousness so that the young generation has a deep understanding and clear awareness of the cultural values, history and national traditions.
In particular, the family is the first “cradle” that forms human personality. Parents and grandparents should be exemplary models in words and behavior; create conditions for children to be exposed to and learn about the cultural traditions and history of the nation from a young age. A story about Uncle Ho, a time hanging the national flag with children on a holiday, a time watching a historical documentary together... is enough to “sow” in children’s hearts a deep love and pride for the country.
Schools enhance education on life ideals and ethics through history lessons, civics, extracurricular activities, and practical experiences. Teachers are the ones who inspire students with emotions and pride in glorious feats and heroic examples of the nation; at the same time, they guide students to identify and fight against signs of moral degradation, lifestyle, and indifference to the fate of the nation. Organizing students to experience reality at historical sites, revolutionary bases, etc. is also an effective way to educate patriotism.
Socio-political organizations, unions, especially the Youth Union, need to regularly organize oriented movements such as journeys to the source, volunteer activities for the community, environmental protection, etc. Through that, help young people understand that patriotism is not only a great concept in books but also a concrete action, a useful life, contributing through kind and responsible deeds.
In addition, culture and art are the catalysts for spreading patriotism. Each film, song, television program, social network, etc., if well-oriented, will become an effective tool to inspire patriotism in the younger generation. In addition, measures must be taken to combat harmful information, distort history, cause doubts, divide the national solidarity, and shake confidence in the socialist regime, the Party's leadership, and the nation's future.
Finally, working together to build a fair, democratic and civilized society is the most profound and lasting way to foster patriotism. When people live in a stable and developed country, with a voice and role in community life, patriotism will not only be a sacred emotion, but also a proactive and creative action for the prosperity of the Fatherland.
Fostering patriotism and being ready to "have youth wherever needed, and youth wherever difficult" is the noble mission of Vietnamese youth in the era of national growth.
