PV GAS: Creating a green energy future from LNG

(Chinhphu.vn) - If the beginning is a story of daring to think and dare to do, then the current stage of PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS) is a testament to its maturity, steadfastness and desire to create. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is not just about importing or storing, but has become a symbol of Vietnam's green and sustainable energy orientation.

LNG supply diversification strategy

In its LNG development strategy, PV GAS has set a clear goal: Diversifying supply sources to reduce risks, optimize costs and ensure long-term energy security. Therefore, PV GAS has established a wide network of relationships from the Middle East to the Americas, Asia and Europe: QatarEnergy plays a key role in the Middle East; ExxonMobil and Cheniere are major partners from the United States; PetroChina and Petronas help consolidate its position in Asia; and Shell and TotalEnergies bring technological and commercial advantages from Europe. This is a diverse picture of cooperation, affirming the stature and influence of PV GAS in the global LNG value chain.

Not only strong in trade, PV GAS also invests heavily in technology. At the PV GAS Vung Tau LNG port warehouse, a smart monitoring system is deployed, combining artificial intelligence (AI) to forecast demand and optimize the supply chain.

Applying advanced technology, expanding international cooperation to develop the LNG market

A modern integrated data center was built to help manage all LNG import, storage, and distribution activities in a synchronous, transparent, and efficient manner. These are technological advances that affirm PV GAS' pioneering position in the digital transformation era.

At the same time, PV GAS is constantly expanding and diversifying its international cooperation network to develop a comprehensive LNG value chain. In 2025, PV GAS had an important meeting with Ms. Susan Burns - US Consul General - to seek high-tech cooperation opportunities, especially in implementing the Son My LNG project (formerly in Binh Thuan province). At the same time, discussions with Petronas (Malaysia) and Sumitomo (Japan) opened up prospects for gas-fired power projects, contributing to realizing the clean energy development roadmap for Vietnam.

From the early days with many surprises, PV GAS has now become a symbol of innovation and breakthrough in the Vietnamese energy industry. The 35-year journey is not only a story of impressive numbers but also a testament to the spirit of daring to think and dare to do of the collective leadership and staff of PV GAS.

Over the past 35 years, PV GAS has not only grown in size and revenue, but also matured in vision and mission. LNG has become a bridge bringing Vietnam closer to the world , while opening the door to a green, safe and sustainable energy future. And on that journey, PV GAS will continue to be the pioneer, leading the Vietnamese energy industry to integrate, so that every step brings value to the country and future generations.
