"The Contract to Sell Strawberry" was released last weekend and by September 15, it had grossed 10.2 billion VND in revenue. The film revolves around the tragedy of a wealthy, powerful family thanks to a deal with the devil.

People's Artist Trung Anh plays Mr. Tri - the head of the Vu family, who has bottomless greed and is willing to sacrifice his children for wealth and prosperity.

The veteran artist shared that he accepted the role because he wanted to challenge himself in a new way of acting, just like he did before with the role of a gangster in “The Judge,” a father who lost his wife in “Come Home, My Child,” or in “Battle of Minds” as an honest police officer.

“I didn’t want to portray Mr. Tri as a simple villain, but as someone corrupted by power and family tradition. I also wanted to test myself to see if I could play this role, because no matter how old I am, when I first made this film, I was still an apprentice,” the artist shared.

On the set of People's Artist Trung Anh appeared cold. He rarely interacted or contacted many young actors such as Huu Vi and Lanh Thanh, who played his sons, in order to play the role more convincingly.

“There is a reason for this,” the actor explained. “The distance between my character and the children is an inhuman distance. Because it is like that in the movie, in real life I want to keep a distance so that you can have that real feeling when acting."

The role of People's Artist Trung Anh is a supporting character. His screen time is not much, but he is the source of all disasters in the family.

"The Contract to Sell Strawberries" is directed by Le Van Kiet, the script was adapted by Bui Kim Quy from the novel of the same name by writer Thuc Linh.

The film revolves around Jasmine (Lam Thanh My), the new daughter-in-law of Mr. Tri's Vu family. She is considered a tool to give birth, with the requirement to give birth to a son for the family after many previous daughters-in-law have failed.

The more supernatural phenomena she sees in the Vu family, the deeper she gets into the family's dark, evil plot.

In addition to People's Artist Trung Anh and Lam Thanh My, "The Contract to Sell Strawberries" also features People's Artist Minh Chau, young actors Lanh Thanh, Nguyen Phuong Tra My and some screen newcomers such as Huu Vi and Tuyet Anh.

The film has many body horror details, and is considered well-rounded, neat and beautiful, but does not have many marks and highlights compared to previous Vietnamese works of the same genre./.

People's Artist Trung Anh was born in 1961, from Ha Tinh . He acted in films since the late 1970s, starting with a number of revolutionary films such as " Hanoi in the season of birds making nests" (1978), "Red Ban Flowers" (1994) or "Hanoi 12 days and nights" (2001)... Later, he participated in more television works, most famously in roles such as "House with many windows" (2008), "Criminal police: The judge" (2017) or the role of the national father in "Come home, my child" (2019).

Currently, People's Artist Trung Anh is also a guest lecturer at the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema, supporting and guiding many young students on the path to becoming professional actors.
