During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Quang Tri - the heroic "land of fire" - witnessed countless pains, losses, and sacrifices, but it was also here that an immortal symbol of revolutionary heroism shone - the 81-day and night battle at Quang Tri Citadel.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, the Truth National Political Publishing House has published for the third time the book "Quang Tri Memories" collected and compiled by writer, poet, journalist, musician, and researcher Nguyen Thuy Kha.

The 220-page book has a new, humane and very special approach, which is to recreate the war through parallel diary entries and memoirs of two soldiers on two sides of the front line - one of a Liberation Army soldier, one of a Republic of Vietnam Marine Corps soldier. They are people of the same age, born in the same year, both yearning for their families and homeland, with the aspirations of passionate youth, but on two sides of the front line, they have completely different ambitions, goals and ideals in life.
Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Director of the National Political Publishing House Nguyen Thai Binh shared that those who have once set foot in Quang Tri Citadel will certainly have many levels of emotions, will see the value of peace, independence and freedom, will never forget the surging and calm emotions in their hearts when passing through the ancient citadel gate, when standing by Hien Luong bridge, by Thach Han river.

In recent days, along with the echoes of the movie “Red Rain”, many readers have been eager to read and own the book “Quang Tri Memories”, which is the motivation for the publisher to continue publishing the book for the third time and organize a discussion and book introduction, with the hope that readers will have a deep access to precious historical memories - memories that should not and cannot be forgotten about a painful but extremely glorious time.
According to comrade Nguyen Thai Binh, without vivid images and sounds, without using literary, flowery, emotional words, the pages of “Quang Tri Memories” bring a very real feeling. Soldiers can only write down what they think and feel with their own hearts and experiences, so it contains very real, very real sounds.

At the discussion, veteran, Liberation Army soldier Dao Chi Thanh - former student of the Mathematics Department, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2, one of the two main characters in the memoir, and his comrades who directly fought at Quang Tri Citadel shared their journey "from the lecture hall to the battlefield", memories of crossing the Thach Han River, memories of the days of fighting in the Citadel, hastily written diary pages amidst bombs and bullets and the desire to return to the lecture hall after the country's peace...

Each story, each narration is touching, touching the emotions of the program participants, helping today's generation to somewhat visualize the fierceness of the war, arousing patriotism, the desire for peace and the responsibility to preserve the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
The book “Quang Tri Memories” (both printed and electronic versions) is currently being widely distributed nationwide. Readers can read the electronic version on the platform sachquocgia.vn.
