Doctors at Ninh Binh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital said that through medical history, the family said that the child had been constipated 3 days before being admitted to the hospital. Seeing that the child was constipated, the family mistakenly took a bottle of naphazoline nasal drops when giving the child digestive enzymes. The amount of naphazoline given to the child was about 4mg.
After taking naphzolin nasal drops, the child became lethargic, had cold and pale limbs, and was hiccuping. Five hours after taking the medicine, the family took the child to the Emergency Department - Ninh Binh Province Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital for emergency treatment.
At the hospital, the child was diagnosed with naphazolin poisoning. Doctors prescribed respiratory support, oxygen mask 5 liters/minute, IV fluids, and warming.
After 2 days of treatment, the baby's condition was stable, alert, and discharged from the hospital.
