On August 21, the company announced that it was taking measures such as reducing brain movement during surgery and limiting the distance between the implant and the brain surface to prevent possible problems in the second patient as occurred in the first patient.

Neuralink is currently testing its device to help people with spinal cord injuries.

Neuralink was founded in 2016 by Elon Musk and 7 other members with the ambition to change the world , opening up the potential of telepathy. In 2019, Musk said that humans will merge and achieve symbiosis with AI. However, security experts are concerned that the system could be attacked by hackers.

In January 2024, the chip was first implanted into the brain of Noland Arbaugh, a quadriplegic living in Arizona, USA. After the chip was implanted, this person was able to control a computer with his thoughts after a few weeks. The surgery is currently being performed on the next person.

Musk asserted that Neuralink’s goal is not only to bring normal life to people with neurological damage, but also to improve natural human abilities. He also said that Neuralink users will have superior visual abilities than normal people in the future.
