MU did not receive any money from Onana

Andre Onana joined Trabzonspor on a season-long loan deal, but United did not receive any fee.

Onana will complete the MU deal in the next 24 hours.

The Athletic confirmed that MU loaned Onana to Trabzonspor on a free transfer, revealing that the deal does not include a buyout clause. The move helps Onana focus on regaining his form and confidence after a turbulent time at Old Trafford.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano added: "In the next 24 hours, Onana will go to Türkiye with his agent. He will become a new player of Trabzonspor on loan from MU until June 2026. There is no buyout clause and no loan fee."

Trabzonspor will, however, cover Onana's wages this season. The Cameroonian goalkeeper's current contract with the Red Devils runs until 2028, with the option of a 12-month extension.

On the other hand, MU were interested in Emiliano Martinez or Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer, but finally chose to bring in Senne Lammens. The young Belgian goalkeeper will compete with Altay Bayindir for the starting position.

Since joining United from Inter Milan for £47.2m two years ago, Onana has been a regular in the error department. He has made just one appearance this season, in a humiliating defeat to Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup. He made another error this time.
