In an interview broadcast on June 17, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that Meta - OpenAI's competitor and Facebook's parent company - once offered a salary of up to $100 million to attract ChatGPT developer talent to strengthen their generative artificial intelligence (AI) team.

Mr. Altman - co-founder of OpenAI - made it clear that Meta has offered generous salaries of up to more than 100 million USD/year to many of his talented employees, but so far, none of them have accepted.

Meta has yet to respond to the report. The social media giant has invested billions of dollars in AI technology in an increasingly fierce race with rivals such as OpenAI, Google and Microsoft.

In January, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company planned to invest at least $60 billion in AI this year, with the ambition to lead the technology field.

In its latest move last week, Meta signed a $10 billion-plus deal with Scale AI, a company that specializes in labeling data to train AI models.

Under the deal, Scale AI founder and CEO Alexandr Wang will join Meta to support the company's AI efforts, including its superintelligence ambitions.

According to US media, Meta has offered annual salaries of up to hundreds of millions of USD to Scale AI's leaders./.
