The story is based on Ly Hai's family life as well as that of some friends after witnessing disagreements taking place.
Ly Hai explained: "Children sometimes study a profession out of filial piety to their parents, but after graduating, they drop out to pursue their true passion. Or if they are not successful, they blame their parents for forcing them to study a profession they do not like. Therefore, there will be disagreements between parents and children. Everyone thinks they are right. Through this story, I hope everyone can look back at themselves, sympathize and understand their loved ones more, and avoid regrettable things. Because in the end, everyone wants to have a happy family."
Thien A. Pham - Director of 3388 Films - shared more: "Director Ly Hai and producer Minh Ha have told a meaningful family story through Lat mat 8: Vong tay nang . I believe that the film will touch the hearts of global audiences. I have always witnessed and listened, especially from young immigrants, about the struggle between pursuing dreams and fulfilling the filial duties of their parents. Films are a great bridge to connect audiences with cultures with different perspectives. 3388 Films intends to bring this film to 4 continents. If watching the film together in theaters can spark useful conversations between parents and children, then that is a huge victory for us."
