Kon Tum records earthquake before the one that shook Myanmar, Thailand

(Dan Tri) - Kon Plong District, Kon Tum Province has just recorded a 3.0 magnitude earthquake causing tremors in some epicenter areas, occurring before the earthquake that shook Myanmar and Thailand.


On March 28, the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center under the Institute of Earth Sciences , Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, announced a magnitude 3.0 earthquake occurring in Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province.

The earthquake occurred at 12:56 p.m. the same day, in Mang Den town, Kon Plong district, with a focal depth of about 8.2 km. The disaster risk level was assessed at 0.

This earthquake occurred before the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Myanmar (at 1:20 p.m. on March 28) that shook Myanmar and Thailand, with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City also feeling the tremors.

Previously, on March 27, Kon Plong district also recorded two earthquakes with magnitudes of 2.5 and 3.0 respectively. Although these earthquakes did not cause any damage to people or property, they caused some areas of the epicenter to shake slightly.
