Prosecution of subjects who organized illegal exit for others

On August 6, the An Giang Provincial Police Department's Investigation Security Agency announced that it had issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and issue a temporary detention order against Le Van Hieu (born in 1978, residing in Ta Lua quarter, Soc Son town, Hon Dat district, Kien Giang province; now My Thuan commune, An Giang province) for organizing illegal exit for others.

The investigator delivered the decision to prosecute the accused Le Van Hieu.

On February 25, 2025, Le Van Hieu was the captain of fishing boat KG-95542-TS carrying 8 fishermen, traveling with fishing boat KG-995541-TS captained by NVK (born in 1994, residing in Phi Thong commune, Rach Gia city, Kien Giang province; now Vinh Thong ward, An Giang province) and 3 other fishermen, illegally fishing in Thai waters, then discovered and chased by the Thai navy.

Le Van Hieu's boat escaped back to Vietnam, while the boat controlled by NVK and 3 fishermen were arrested and handed over to the police of Khlong Yai district, Trat province, Thailand for investigation, handling and temporary detention until now.

The Provincial Police Department has directed the Security Investigation Department to collect sufficient documents and evidence to strictly handle violations and recommended that fishermen raise awareness, strictly comply with legal regulations in fishing activities, and properly implement the recommendations of the European Commission (EC) to protect sovereignty , develop the marine economy and contribute to removing the yellow card for Vietnam's fisheries industry.
