In early September, the story of a Korean tourist named Sofia Chwe, 21 years old, sharing her special experience when visiting a jewelry store in Hoi An (formerly Quang Nam province), attracted the attention of social media users.

According to the story, the female tourist was walking around the old town alone and stopped by a shop with the intention of buying some jewelry for her trip . The visit took place at noon.

At this time, the restaurant owner had just served a meal to a woman. After that, the restaurant owner invited the female tourist to eat with him, which made her very emotional.

Sofia said that the owner gave her bowls and chopsticks and she took the initiative to pick up food. The meal made her feel warm and at home. The friendliness and hospitality of the owner's family made the Korean guest feel that her trip to Hoi An was more meaningful.

According to the customer, the jewelry store where she stopped is located on Tran Hung Dao Street. Talking to Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Tran Chi Hieu, the store owner, said that the incident happened at noon on September 5.

The time the customers came to buy at noon, just as the family was preparing to eat. The hastily prepared lunch had bitter melon stuffed with meat, fried eggs, some braised fish, and vegetable soup. Then, for dessert, there was mango served with yogurt.

Seeing that the guest was alone and it was lunchtime, Mr. Hieu happily invited the girl to sit and eat with him. According to the host's observation, the guest was very happy and enjoyed the whole meal like a family member.

To make the customer feel comfortable, he did not ask for much personal information. He also did not expect that after lunch that day, the girl would post the article on social media, receiving the attention of many people.

The post quickly went viral, with many comments praising the host’s hospitality and warmth. The owner said this was not the first time he had invited strangers to enjoy a home-cooked meal.

"If guests arrive at the right time when the family is serving dinner, I often invite them to enjoy it together for fun. Guests from far away have the experience of enjoying Vietnamese home-cooked meals, so they can better understand Vietnamese dining culture.

For me, inviting guests to dinner is simply a way to share the culture and flavors of my hometown Quang Nam with friends everywhere," he confided.

Although he did not take any pictures with the Korean girl, the shop owner said he was surprised that so many people were interested in his family's small story.

He believes that this action is as simple as inviting relatives to his home. Although a family meal is simple, if guests can feel the warm affection of Vietnamese people, it is a great joy for him.

In fact, Vietnamese hospitality has become a topic shared by many foreigners on social media platforms.

Previously in January 2024, Mr. Sujit, an Indian tourist, also shared a similar story.

He said that when he arrived in Hanoi and wandered around the streets, he and his friend stopped by a coffee shop. Not long after, it was dinner time and the couple who owned the shop invited them to stay for a friendly meal, even though they were strangers before.

"To me, this clearly shows the hospitality of Vietnamese people. Despite the language barrier as I cannot speak Vietnamese and the owner is not fluent in English, we still happily communicated with each other thanks to a translation software," Sujit recounted his interesting experience.

In addition, the cafe owner also thoughtfully played Bollywood music (songs from Indian movies) to please the two guests.

It is known that the coffee shop where the Indian guests came to experience is a business located on Tran Phu Street (Hanoi). With its special location, the shop welcomes about 90% of foreign guests.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Nguyen Van Long, the restaurant owner, said that the guest arrived at the restaurant just when the family was having dinner, so he invited them to join the meal. Although both of them could not eat much, they seemed to love the atmosphere of the family meal.

Although the two sides did not speak each other's language fluently, the meal took place in a warm and happy atmosphere. The meal included familiar Vietnamese dishes such as spring rolls, pork patties, and vegetable soup. The two foreign guests also had pho.

Before the meal, Mr. Long and his wife and their son took a photo with the foreign guests. After the guests left, they promised to return to Vietnam in the near future.
