After many hot days with noon temperatures continuously at 35-36 degrees Celsius and only scattered rain, at noon today, August 14, Hanoi welcomed a heavy to very heavy rain over a large area.

The heavy rain and strong winds caused some streets to be flooded and some trees to fall. During the heavy rain, the roads were sparsely populated with vehicles and people.
Meteorologists predict that the rain will last for many hours or many times a day. Not only Hanoi but many places in the North will also enter a period of heavy rain, lasting for many days.

Before the heavy rain, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warned: observations from satellite images, lightning location data and weather radar showed that convective clouds had developed strongly in Thanh Xuan, Khuong Dinh, Thanh Liet, Dai Mo, Phuong Liet, Tu Liem, Ha Dong wards and tended to expand.

At 12:30, many people in Thanh Tri, Thanh Xuan, Ha Dong, Hoai Duc areas... shared that it was pouring rain, the roads were temporarily flooded because the water had not drained in time. Some places had thunder and lightning.

Meteorological experts also said that from around 10-11am on August 14, thunderstorms developed strongly in the northern provinces. Currently, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An (especially the western area and the border of these two provinces) also have thunderstorms developing, extending to the west of Da Nang City. On the afternoon of August 14, thunderstorms may gradually develop towards the sea.
In the South and Central Highlands, the rain will focus on Kon Tum and the western part of the Mekong Delta. This afternoon, the rain will gradually increase. Due to thunderstorms, people should not go out when it is stormy.
