Arsenal won their third consecutive Premier League match at home at the Emirates Stadium, defeating Nottingham Forest 3-0 on the evening of September 13 in round 4. This is the first time since August 2024 that the "Gunners" have achieved this feat, consolidating their position in the rankings.

The game marked a challenging debut for Nottingham Forest's new manager, Ange Postecoglou. The former Tottenham boss was appointed after the East Midlands club sacked Nuno Espirito Santo during the international break, but the trip to Arsenal exposed the Australian's struggles in adapting to his new philosophy.

Nottingham Forest, who have won just three of their last 11 Premier League games, were clearly the underdogs throughout the first half. Postecoglou's preferred style of play is significantly different to his predecessor's, and his new players appear to be struggling to adapt to the change.

Although Arsenal dominated possession for much of the opening 45 minutes, clear-cut chances were few and far between. Mikel Merino's close-range effort was well saved by Matz Sels and was one of two on target before the half-time whistle.

Both teams were hit by injuries, with Gunners captain Martin Odegaard and the visitors' centre-back Murillo both forced off. In the end, only a moment of magic separated the two teams before the break, as Martin Zubimendi's stunning volley was not only his first goal for his new club, but also the first time he had scored from outside the box in his professional career.

It may have taken Arsenal 37 minutes to open the scoring, but they needed less than 60 seconds of the second half to double their advantage. Summer signing Viktor Gyokeres was on hand to tap home Eberechi Eze's cross from close range, demonstrating the kind of pressure Arteta has come to expect in the final third.

In a busy start to the second half, the visitors almost had a lucky goal when Dan Ndoye's cross was headed towards goal by Chris Wood, but David Raya parried the ball against the crossbar. The woodwork shook again soon after, but for Nottingham, when Gyokeres's tight-angled shot hit the post and bounced wide.

From that point on, Nottingham seemed to lose faith in their ability to come back and claim a point, and even after the introduction of Ryan Yates and James McAtee, Postecoglou's side failed to create any significant pressure.

Arsenal finished the game comfortably and made it three wins from four games this season, with Zubimendi's late header taking the lead to new heights, marking the perfect response to a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool before the international break. For Nottingham, however, it was their second successive 3-0 defeat, forcing Postecoglou to do his best to turn things around and ensure this poor run does not get any worse.
