According to the latest report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Vietnam's coffee exports in August 2025 continued to grow impressively, affirming our country's important position in the global coffee market.
Specifically, coffee export output in August reached 95 thousand tons, with a total turnover of up to 429.1 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, the volume increased by 25.5% but the value increased by only 6.7%.
In the first 8 months of 2025, Vietnam exported 1.2 million tons of coffee, earning 6.42 billion USD. Although output increased by 8.7% over the same period, export value increased by 59.1%. The main reason was that the average export price of coffee was 46.4% higher than in 2024.
The record high coffee prices reflect the scarcity of supply, especially for Robusta. More importantly, the fact that the value is increasing many times compared to the output shows that the domestic coffee industry is gradually changing, focusing on quality instead of just focusing on quantity as before.
World coffee prices today
On the London exchange, the online price of Robusta coffee futures for September 2025 delivery reached $4,510/ton, down 1.55% ($71/ton) from yesterday. The November 2025 futures contract fell 1.25% ($55/ton) to $4,359/ton.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for September 2025 delivery decreased by 0.49% (1.9 US cents/pound) compared to yesterday, to 383.85 US cents/pound. The contract for December 2025 delivery decreased by 0.13% (0.65 US cents/pound), reaching 373.9 US cents/pound.
Coffee prices fell slightly today after a period of strong increases. Despite the downward adjustment, price expectations remain high. Experts say the upward trend will continue to be supported by limited supply, reduced export volume, low inventory levels and changes in tax policies.
Arabica coffee prices have risen nearly 29% since the beginning of September and are up more than 57% in 2025, reflecting a volatile market. The New York Stock Exchange continued to record gains after the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture forecast a 4.9% decline in arabica production this year.
In contrast to Arabica, Robusta coffee prices are under downward pressure. The main reason comes from the sharp increase in coffee exports from Vietnam, increasing supply and causing prices to fall.
In the US market, the price of roasted and ground coffee hit a new record in July at $8.41 per pound, up 33% from the same period last year. Overall, the price of all types of coffee in the US increased by 14.5%, becoming one of the commodities with the highest price increase. World coffee prices are also currently at a 50-year high.
