The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended the Opening Ceremony of the new school year at Lai Chau College.

Attending the ceremony were representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors; local authorities; nearly 100 lecturers, officials, employees and more than 500 students representing more than 1,200 students of the whole school.

The opening ceremony of the new school year 2025 - 2026 was held online from the National Convention Center. At the opening ceremony at Lai Chau College, the 80-year tradition of the education sector was reviewed; the results of the 2024 - 2025 school year were evaluated and the direction for the new school year was set.

In the 2024-2025 school year, with solidarity and continuous efforts, teachers and students of Lai Chau College have successfully completed their tasks, exceeding the enrollment target (606 new students, reaching 110.2% of the plan); maintaining the scale of more than 40 classes with over 1,100 students. Training quality has changed positively, the graduation rate reached nearly 90%, of which over 80% of students have jobs or create their own jobs after graduation.

Entering the 2025-2026 school year, the school has 33 classes with more than 1,200 students; of which 380 new students are recruited in many majors at college and intermediate levels. In the new school year, the school continues to promote innovation and improve the quality of education and training.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Tong Thanh Hai - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee sent his warm regards and best wishes to generations of teachers, officials, employees, workers and students of the School. He emphasized: The 2025-2026 school year takes place in the context of the whole country and Lai Chau province completing the arrangement of administrative units, implementing the 2-level local government model; at the same time, it is the first year of implementing Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development.

To successfully complete the task, he suggested that the school promote the application of information technology, digital transformation in management, teaching and learning; build a civilized, modern and friendly school environment. Pay attention to restructuring training professions, improving the quality of the teaching staff; innovate content, programs and teaching methods in a modern direction, linked to practice. At the same time, strengthen links with businesses and production facilities to grasp labor needs, adjust suitable professions, ensure that students can work immediately after graduation.

He hopes that students will strive to study, practice, and equip themselves with the necessary knowledge, skills, and qualities to become useful citizens, contributing to the development of their homeland.

On this occasion, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded a certificate of merit from the Prime Minister to lecturer Nguyen Thi Quynh - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Basic Sciences - Boarding Ethnic Minorities for her outstanding achievements in the period 2017 - 2024; awarded certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to 2 individuals and 2 groups of the school that achieved the title of "Excellent Labor Collective".

On this occasion, the school also received scholarships from 15 organizations and businesses with a total value of 88 million VND; awarded 100 scholarships (300,000 VND/scholarship) to students with difficult circumstances and high achievements in the 2024-2025 school year.
