On September 13, continuing the working trip in the Southwest sea, the delegation of Ho Chi Minh City visited and encouraged officers and soldiers of the Naval Region 5 Command (located in Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang province) and presented many meaningful projects and gifts to share difficulties and give more motivation to the forces on remote islands.
The delegation was led by Rear Admiral Do Van Yen, Deputy Political Commissar of the Navy. Also participating in the delegation were leaders of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; representatives of agencies, business units, artists, and reporters from newspapers and radio stations.
Also attending the event on Phu Quoc Island was Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee. On the side of the Naval Region 5 Command, there was Rear Admiral Ngo Van Thanh, Political Commissar of Naval Region 5.
During the visit, the delegation offered incense and flowers at the Fist Monument - a work marking the indomitable spirit of the army and people during the years of fighting to defend the country.
In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, delegates respectfully commemorated and expressed gratitude for the great contributions of the heroic martyrs who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
Reporting to the delegation, Lieutenant Colonel Mai Dang Danh, Deputy Commander - Chief of Staff of Naval Region 5, said that in the first 9 months of 2025, officers and soldiers of Region 5 have strived to overcome difficulties, persistently stayed at sea, maintained sovereignty over the Southwest sea and islands, and actively coordinated with localities, contributing to improving the lives of soldiers and civilians on the island.
In order to express gratitude for those contributions, the Ho Chi Minh City delegation presented many projects and gifts with a total value of billions of VND. Specifically, the project "Rooftop vegetable garden" to Company 83, Battalion 553 worth 400 million VND; the project "Machinery, equipment, vehicles, household items" worth 151 million VND and the project "Soldiers' Club House of Battalion 563" worth 250 million VND.
In addition, the delegation also presented gifts worth 70 million VND to officers and soldiers; 125 national flags and maps of Vietnam presented by the Lao Dong Newspaper and the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper; 91 million VND to support 13 forces on duty on the island; gifts for 24 soldiers who are children of Ho Chi Minh City working in Phu Quoc; and 10 gifts for students who have overcome difficulties and studied well.
In particular, units and businesses accompanying the delegation also contributed many practical items such as televisions, water purifiers, computers, books, necessities and seeds, contributing to improving living and studying conditions and increasing production for officers and soldiers.


Rear Admiral Do Van Yen, Deputy Political Commissar of the Navy, presented gifts to support forces on duty in Phu Quoc Island.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Le Hoang Hai, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, emphasized that the gifts contained the affection, care and responsibility of the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City sent to the frontline forces.
"This is not only a sharing of difficulties in life but also a message of trust and pride from the great rear for the front line. Each gift is an encouragement and support for officers and soldiers to be more confident, steadfast, overcome all challenges, and excellently complete the task of protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland" - Mr. Le Hoang Hai affirmed.
