Ms. Tran Thuy Linh, owner of a lantern production facility in Hau Nghia town ( Tay Ninh province) said that this year, shops and supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City "deposited" traditional lanterns very early (early July of the lunar calendar), in large quantities. To ensure the quantity of goods for partners, Ms. Linh's family's facility had to hire more workers to process.
In Vinh Long , these days, on both sides of Pho Co Dieu, Pham Thai Buong, Vo Van Kiet streets..., shops and agents selling moon cakes simultaneously open stalls, display and sell cakes... The owner of a moon cake shop on Pho Co Dieu street (Vinh Long province) said that although it is only the second half of the 7th lunar month, the consumption market is very strong.
Most consumers choose to buy less sweet cakes with natural ingredients. Compared to last year, the prices of many types of cakes this year have increased slightly: On average, the price ranges from 55,000 to 100,000 VND/cake; high-end gift boxes, with tea or accessories, range from several hundred thousand to several million VND. Similarly, in Can Tho City, the Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere has gradually become more vibrant over the past week.
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Vinh Long province, said that this year's moon cake market has the participation of many brands, diverse designs and rich quality, meeting the needs of many customer groups. Quality management is also given special attention by the functional sector. Next week, the department will coordinate with the provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Department to inspect production and business establishments and stalls selling moon cakes in the area. The inspection will focus on the origin of raw materials, the use of additives, preservation processes, as well as the announcement of technical standards, etc.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hien, Head of the Market Management Department of Can Tho City, informed that the unit is coordinating with relevant agencies to inspect and handle establishments that produce and trade goods in violation of regulations and do not ensure quality. In particular, focusing on handling cases such as: unhygienic production of moon cakes; trading in children's toys of unknown origin, counterfeit goods; processed drinks that do not ensure quality...
Mr. Hien recommends: "People should absolutely not buy "super cheap" moon cakes, or those advertised at discounted prices on social networking sites, without knowing the origin of the product."
