Candidates registering too many wishes causes the virtual rate to increase, leading to many difficulties in determining the benchmark score.
This afternoon, August 22, more than 200 universities will simultaneously announce their admission scores after 10 virtual filtering sessions.
Statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training show that nearly 850,000 candidates have registered for admission, with a total of about 7.6 million applications, with each student registering for nearly 9 applications on average. This is a record high in the past 5 years, leading to an increase in the virtual admission rate.
According to many experts, the early cancellation of admissions leaves candidates without a starting point, leading to the mentality of registering for many admissions wishes to increase their chances of being admitted. Many candidates register from more than 100 wishes to over 150 wishes, some even register for over 200 wishes.
Although the Ministry of Education and Training increased the number of virtual filtering times from 6 to 10 times, the announcement time of the first round of benchmark scores will be delayed compared to previous years, at the latest 5:00 p.m. on August 22, but other important milestones in the university and college admission process in 2025 will remain the same.
The deadline for candidates to confirm their admission remains unchanged, no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 30.
The Ministry of Education and Training affirmed that increasing the number of virtual filtering times is only a technical adjustment, aiming to improve the efficiency of processing wishes in the context of a sudden increase in the number of registrations. The selection process is still being implemented according to plan, ensuring publicity, transparency and maximum benefits for candidates.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that in response to the request to adjust the 2025 virtual selection and screening plan, the northern region selection results (Northern Selection Group) will be announced at 4:00 p.m. on August 22.
