Currently, the project investor, the Department of Culture and Sports of Binh Dinh province, has provided complete legal documents for the above project.
Banh It Tower is an ancient architectural work built from the end of the 11th century to the beginning of the 12th century, bearing the strong imprint of Cham culture in Binh Dinh. According to historical documents, in the past, the Banh It Tower complex had a large number of architectural works, forming a complete religious center located in the center of 3 ancient citadels, including: Thi Nai citadel, Cha citadel, Do Ban citadel. In 1982, the work was ranked as a national architectural and artistic relic and is an ancient architectural work of Vietnam included in the book "1,001 architectural works to visit in life" by a group of British authors.
According to Mr. Ta Xuan Chanh, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Binh Dinh province, the excavation of soil to build structures, fences... around the towers at this relic has always been done by workers by hand, without using machinery or mechanical means. Only one day, the construction unit arbitrarily brought in an excavator to carry out the work of dumping soil and rolling in the area near the Gate Tower. The place where the excavator carried out the work and parked was in area 1 of the relic. Immediately after the discovery, the Department of Culture and Sports requested the unit to stop the excavator.
After reviewing and checking at the site, the construction unit is implementing the above items, comparing with the design documents. The construction unit ensures compliance with the agreements of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the agreement of the Department of Cultural Heritage, not affecting the original relics. There are some additional jobs that the construction unit does such as: adding more soil to deep holes, creating flatness with excavators as reflected and commented by newspapers. The Department of Culture and Sports has requested to stop and move motorbikes out of the area, to do it manually.
