In the Saudi Arabia Super Cup semi-final last night in Hong Kong (China), Al Nassr opened the scoring against Al Ittihad with a goal by Sadio Mane in the 10th minute. Al Ittihad then equalized with a goal by former Tottenham player Steven Bergwijn in the 16th minute.

It is worth mentioning that in the 25th minute, Mane received a direct red card, putting Al Nassr in a difficult position. The drama was pushed up in the 61st minute, when Mohamed Simakan sent a pass that tore through the Al Ittihad defense for C. Ronaldo to run down. Instead of finishing, the Portuguese superstar passed the ball across for new signing Joao Felix to easily tap the ball into the empty net.
The linesman immediately raised his flag for offside, and it seemed like the goal would be disallowed. However, after consulting VAR, the referee decided to allow the goal, determining that Ronaldo was not offside. The goal was awarded to Al Nassr. This was the winning goal for this club.
The referee’s decision to allow the goal caused a stir among fans on social media, with many claiming that CR7 had been behind the opponent’s defense. One Twitter account sarcastically said: “Where is the defense? Where is the offside? What kind of tournament is this?”

Another wrote: “The referee blew for offside, but VAR intervened because C.Ronaldo was involved and awarded Al Nassr a goal that fell from the sky.”
A third person criticized: “C.Ronaldo is clearly offside. He is always the center of controversy.”
Despite the controversy, C.Ronaldo happily shared a photo of the celebration on his personal page with a short status: "Let's go".
At the age of 40, the Portuguese superstar is still hungry for titles and aims to help Al Nassr win the Saudi Arabia Super Cup.
Coach Jorge Jesus, who took charge of Al Nassr this summer, also considered C. Ronaldo an important motivation to accept the challenge at Al Nassr. Before the match with Al Ittihad, he frankly said: "The presence of Cristiano is one of the big reasons why I agreed to come here. I want to focus with the players on the goal of winning the title."
Al Nassr will face the winner of the match between Al Qadisiyah and Al Ahli Saudi in the Saudi Arabia Super Cup final on August 23.
