In this series of national events, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism was assigned an important but honorable responsibility: Presiding over 11 tasks and coordinating the implementation of 6 other tasks. With the close direction of the Central Steering Committee, the coordination of the Committees, Ministries, and branches, and the efforts of all cadres, civil servants, and public employees, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has successfully completed the assigned tasks.
Originated from competitions and contests
Right from the first months of 2025, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched a contest to create propaganda posters to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. In just 3 months (from May to July 2025), the Organizing Committee received more than 500 works from professional and amateur authors across the country.
As a result, 17 of the best works were awarded and exhibited, bringing close artistic messages, spreading the spirit of national pride. The contest is not only an artistic creation activity but also a visual and effective propaganda channel, contributing to arousing patriotism in the community. In parallel, the National Mobile Propaganda Contest took place in Tuyen Quang, Bac Ninh and Hai Phong from August 4 to 9, attracting more than 1,000 propagandists from 24 mobile propaganda teams from 23 provinces and 4 cities. The mobile performances combined with dramatization created a vibrant and attractive atmosphere, bringing history and the message of "Independence - Freedom - Happiness" closer to the masses.
One of the important tasks that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is in charge of is designing decorative mockups, logos, identity sets and gift symbols. These designs not only ensure solemnity and uniformity but also convey the spirit of the theme "80 years of the Journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness". The symbols are widely used in propaganda activities and souvenirs, helping to enhance the recognition of events nationwide, while affirming the professional mark in the organization.
Courage and creativity
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is the unit in charge of scriptwriting, general director of the Anniversary Ceremony, military parade, march, art program, and lettering at the historic Ba Dinh Square on the morning of September 2. This is not only a professional task that requires careful, scientific preparation and close coordination between many forces, but also the process of breathing culture and art into an important political event. The solemnity and standards of a national anniversary are smoothly combined with powerful artistic effects, creating a profound spread of emotions.
The highlight of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's mission chain is also the national art program at My Dinh National Stadium on the evening of September 1 with the theme "80 years of the Journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness". With the participation of 3,000 artists and actors, the elaborate combination of music , lighting, and multimedia projection technology, the program attracted nearly 20,000 live audiences.
More honorably, the program had the presence of General Secretary To Lam, leaders and former leaders of the Party and State, international guests and the overseas Vietnamese community. This was truly an "epic" connecting tradition with aspirations to rise up in the new era. One of the outstanding successes was the opening of the Anniversary Press Center at the National Assembly House, with the participation of 150 press agencies and about 300 reporters and editors. This is a "hub" to help provide quick, official information, while ensuring that propaganda work is oriented and effective.
Large scale footprint
If the art program creates an emotional impression, the National Achievement Exhibition is a visual demonstration of the achievements of 80 years of construction and development. With the theme "80 years of the Journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness", the Exhibition has the largest scale ever, covering an area of nearly 260,000m², attracting the participation of 28 ministries, 34 localities, 110 typical state and private enterprises.
In just the first 8 days since its opening on August 28, the Exhibition welcomed about 4.7 million visitors, including many high-ranking international delegations from Laos and Cambodia.
This is not only a large-scale cultural and political event but also an attractive tourist destination, promoting the image of Vietnam's integration and development. At the same time, across the country, a series of cultural, artistic, sports and tourism activities are organized synchronously, creating a joyful atmosphere on the occasion of the great holiday. Traditional festivals are organized solemnly, economically, safely, and associated with the identity of each region.
Regarding tourism, during the 4-day holiday (August 30 - September 2), the tourism industry nationwide served 5.5 million visitors, an increase of 83.3% over the same period in 2024. Many new tourism products were introduced, many destinations opened for free, creating a special attraction for tourists.
Awakening the desire for development
From competitions, festivals, art programs, exhibitions to tourism activities, it can be seen that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has excellently fulfilled its assigned responsibilities. All activities are organized solemnly, safely, economically and effectively.
Through activities, affirming Vietnamese cultural identity, harmoniously combining tradition and modernity. At the same time, contributing to improving people's spiritual life, promoting the image of Vietnam as safe, friendly, and rich in identity.
More importantly, the success of the series of events has contributed to strengthening confidence, arousing patriotism, national pride, and the desire to develop the country in the new era. The above success is the result of careful preparation, close coordination, responsibility, and innovative thinking from those who "keep the rhythm" for the Great Ceremony's symphony.
Since the Government approved the overall project of the commemorative activities, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been assigned the responsibility of being the host unit, developing the script and organizing key programs. Fully aware of the sacred meaning and special stature of the event, Minister Nguyen Van Hung and the Standing Committee of the Ministry's Party Committee have set the highest requirements: All activities must be solemn, creative, and spread the aspirations and pride of the nation.
During the implementation process, the Minister and the Ministry's leaders always closely followed the orientation of the Party and the Government, and at the same time concretized it with a detailed plan. That vision does not stop at "organizing a celebration", but also aims to build an event with long-lasting vitality in the community's memory, affirming the bravery and intelligence of Vietnam in the integration period.
A series of major events, ranging from the National Achievement Exhibition, art activities, to the military parade, march and solemn celebration at Ba Dinh Square, required inter-sectoral and inter-level coordination. Minister Nguyen Van Hung directly chaired many meetings, urged and inspected progress, listened to opinions from agencies and units to promptly remove difficulties.
In every step, from designing the artistic script to logistics and communications, the Minister and the Ministry's leaders showed close attention, determination but also great flexibility. When situations arose, from weather conditions to changes in lineup, the Ministry's leaders' instructions were always timely and thorough, ensuring absolute safety while preserving the spirit and emotions of the program.
The past 80 years have been a difficult but glorious journey for the Vietnamese people. On this important anniversary, the tasks carried out by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have become important highlights, leaving a deep impression on the people. These results not only demonstrate the capacity to organize national-scale events, but also affirm the core role of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in preserving identity, promoting national cultural values, and promoting tourism and international integration. This is also a solid spiritual foundation for the entire Party, people and army to continue entering a new era with strong faith and aspirations for development.
