Binh Dinh hopes to welcome more Japanese investors

VietNamNetVietNamNet08/07/2023

On the afternoon of July 7, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province organized an investment promotion conference for Japanese enterprises in Binh Dinh. This activity is part of the event "Binh Dinh - Japan Meeting 2023" with the theme "Binh Dinh - A place for meeting, converging and developing Japanese investors".

Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Secretary of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee, said that since 2013, the province has implemented cooperation in many fields with a number of localities in Japan. Every year, the two sides regularly organize many delegations and working trips to improve the effectiveness of cooperation in many fields.

There are 19 projects of Japanese investors and enterprises being implemented in Binh Dinh province with a total registered investment capital of more than 97 million USD, accounting for 22% of the province's total FDI projects.

The number of products and goods manufactured in Binh Dinh exported to the Japanese market is increasing. Investment projects and support programs of Japanese organizations, businesses and localities have been operating effectively, contributing to job creation and income improvement for workers in Binh Dinh.

Mr. Dung said that Binh Dinh wishes to continue to strengthen cooperation with Japanese businesses and localities, especially in areas where Japan has strengths.

The province has investment needs in the fields of manufacturing industry, information technology, artificial intelligence, high-tech agriculture , environment, automation, logistics, seaports, healthcare, education, and labor.

Binh Dinh commits to providing maximum support to investors, businesses, foreign partners in general and Japanese partners in particular to seek unique, successful, and sustainable investment opportunities in the locality. The province is always ready and creates the best conditions to welcome Japanese investors to learn about and cooperate in investment, said Mr. Dung.

Mr. Ha Kim Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs , assessed that Japan is Vietnam's leading economic partner, number one in ODA, second in labor, third in investment and tourism, and fourth in trade.

By the end of March 2023, Japan's total direct investment in Vietnam reached 69.39 billion USD with over 5,000 projects.

However, according to Mr. Ha Kim Ngoc, Japanese investment in Binh Dinh is still modest, with nearly 20 projects and a total registered investment capital of about 100 million USD, not commensurate with Binh Dinh's potential.

“There is still a lot of room for cooperation between Binh Dinh and Japan, especially in the field of import-export and processing of products that Binh Dinh has strengths in such as shrimp, fruit, ocean tuna, and industrial production. I believe that, with a long-term strategic vision and acumen, Japanese investors and businesses will choose Binh Dinh as their destination,” said Mr. Ha Kim Ngoc.
