Many lecture halls, dormitories, research areas, and physicaleducation facilities are built synchronously on the 1,100-hectare campus of Hanoi National University in Hoa Lac, a 30-minute drive from the city center.
The master plan for investment in the construction of Hanoi National University in Hoa Lac was approved by the Prime Minister in October 2013, including 21 component projects with a scale of about 60,000 students; land area of about 1,113.7 hectares, total investment of more than 25,000 billion VND.
Compared to 2013, the largest university urban area in the country is now covered with green trees and grass. Some projects have also been completed and put into construction such as the No. 1 public house (20,000 m2 floor), the dormitory area (20,000 m2 floor), two lecture halls (35,000 m2 scale) and some other items such as research area, experiential activity area, physical education, utility services, health care .
The main gate of the Hanoi National University urban area is located on Thang Long Avenue, about 30 km from the center of Hanoi. Hoa Lac campus is built according to the "5 in 1" model: talent training center; technology transfer research center; innovation center; smart university urban area; public-private partnership testing center and research training.
The HT1 and HT2 buildings with a floor area of 35,000 m2 and accompanying technical infrastructure have been completed, becoming the busiest lecture hall area with many activities from training to scientific research. Major events of Hanoi National University in Hoa Lac such as the opening and closing ceremonies are also held in the space between these two buildings.
8 infrastructure routes, 4 canal routes, and basically synchronous internal infrastructure create favorable conditions for 6,000 students and thousands of staff, lecturers, and scientists to come to teach, study, research, work, and live. This number is 4 times higher than last year.

Mr. Le Quan, Director of Hanoi National University, said that 6,000 students studying at Hoa Lac this year come from 8 schools and faculties: University of Medicine and Pharmacy, University of Technology, Vietnam-Japan University, Law University, Education University, International School, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences and all 10th grade students of the High School of Educational Sciences.

Students read books at a point of the Library and Digital Knowledge Center (VNU-LIC). In the far corner, staff are digitizing documents to serve the reading needs of lecturers and students through websites and applications developed by the center. Students learn golf on the campus of Hanoi National University in Hoa Lac. This is the first public university in Vietnam to offer golf as an optional part of Physical Education.

Hanoi National University currently has 9 member universities, 2 schools and 2 affiliated faculties, 6 research institutes and training centers, scientific research centers, service units and knowledge transfer. The total size of the university is about 40,000 students. It is expected that by 2025, the facilities in Hoa Lac will complete phase 1, operating with a scale of 15,000 students.
