Sergio Ramos is enjoying the limelight off the pitch.

More than a week after releasing his debut solo song “Cibeles,” Monterrey defender Sergio Ramos quickly garnered attention with over 7.7 million views on YouTube and nearly 1.9 million streams. The song even topped the download charts, becoming a hot topic on social media and the media.

During his appearance on El Hormiguero last week, Ramos did not hide his ambition when he affirmed: "I can imagine myself winning the Champions League tomorrow as a coach, but it is also possible that it will be a Grammy."

That half-joking, half-serious remark shows the confidence of a star who is used to the pinnacle of football, now trying his hand in the music field.

However, that success is being closely dissected. According to Antena 3's Espejo Publico program, the song actually only reached 73rd place on the charts, a surprising number given the massive media impact.

The reason, according to expert Nando Escribano, lies in the data calculation standards: only counting data from Spain, eliminating incomplete views and bots, and distinguishing between free and Premium accounts.

With this calculation, the “valid” number of “Cibeles” is only about 1.5 million views and 400,000 listens, equivalent to 3,000 copies sold. These modest actual numbers show that Ramos’s start in music, although noisy, is not necessarily sustainable.

However, it is hard to deny the appeal of the name Sergio Ramos. From an icon on the field to an internet phenomenon with his debut song, he has proven one thing: no matter what field he is in, as long as he appears, Ramos still knows how to make the whole world watch.
