Request to submit Long Thanh urban master plan in September 2025

According to assessment, the progress of implementing the master plan for Long Thanh urban area until 2045 has been slow.

Previously, in February 2024, the Prime Minister approved the master plan for Long Thanh urban area, Dong Nai province until 2045. According to this decision, the planning scope is the entire administrative boundary of the old Long Thanh district with a total natural area of over 430km2. The urban population by 2030 is about 340,000 people and by 2045 it will reach 480-500,000 people.

Regarding the planning objectives, the general planning of Long Thanh urban area until 2045 must effectively exploit the natural conditions, typical ecosystem and advantages of Long Thanh International Airport, the national and regional technical infrastructure system in the area to develop suitable urban space and functional areas to increase land use efficiency.

Long Thanh urban area is an urban area connected to Long Thanh Airport, becoming the national gateway area to the international. At the same time, it is a logistics service center supporting Long Thanh Airport; a logistics, warehousing, multi-industry, industrial, and high-tech center of the Southeast region. Along with that, Long Thanh urban area will be a connecting center, a traffic hub, and multimodal transportation for the country, a key development pole in the South, the Southeast region, and Dong Nai province. This is also an important area for security and defense of the Southeast region and the whole country.

Regarding spatial development orientation, Long Thanh urban area will study development models and structures suitable for effectively exploiting the advantages of the national and regional infrastructure system, especially Long Thanh Airport, expressways, and urban railways.
