In response to the brave and selfless actions of Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dong Canh in the fight against crime, on September 9, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam posthumously awarded the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dong Canh, Xuan Loc Commune Police, Dak Lak Province, who died while on duty.

The Prime Minister awarded the Certificate of "National Gratitude" to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dong Canh, Xuan Loc Commune Police, Dak Lak Province, who died while on duty .

On September 9, General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, signed a decision to posthumously promote the rank of major to lieutenant colonel ahead of schedule from September 8, 2025 for comrade Nguyen Dong Canh, born in 1989, hometown Xuan Loc commune, Dak Lak province, intermediate police officer, police officer of Xuan Loc commune, Dak Lak province.

On September 10, Major General Phan Thanh Tam, Director of Dak Lak Provincial Police, signed an official dispatch to agencies and units under the Provincial Police on studying and following the heroic example in the fight against crime of martyr, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dong Canh.

The document reads: “Today, we are saddened by the sacrifice of Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dong Canh, a police officer of Xuan Loc commune, Dak Lak province, in the fight against crime. He sacrificed himself, carrying with him many dreams and ambitions of youth, determined to keep his oath “to sacrifice for the Fatherland, for the people”, adding to the glorious heroic tradition of the Vietnam People's Public Security force”.

Party committees and leaders of the Police of units, commune and ward police, Youth Union, Women's Union, and Labor Union of the Provincial Police organized political activities and launched a movement to learn from the bravery and sacrifice of martyr, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dong Canh among all cadres, soldiers, union members and members.

In the immediate future, continuing to well perform the tasks directed by the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, the Provincial Police Department will protect political security and social order and safety to serve the Dak Lak Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, towards the 14th National Party Congress, along with activities to celebrate major holidays of the homeland, the country and the industry.

The Party Committee and Director of Dak Lak Provincial Police Department have awarded a decision to support 150 million VND from the Comradeship Fund of the Ministry of Public Security and the Provincial Police Department to the family of comrade Nguyen Dong Canh.

The funeral of Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dong Canh was held in his hometown of Xuan Loc commune.

Previously, on the morning of September 8, Major Nguyen Dong Canh and 4 officers and soldiers of Xuan Loc Commune Police, Dak Lak Province, chased Nguyen Van Ty, born in 1994, residing in Hamlet 4, Xuan Loc Commune, who intentionally caused injury to Nguyen Thi Ket, born in 1990, Ty's sister-in-law, who was living in the same house.

During the pursuit, Major Nguyen Dong Canh was stabbed multiple times by Ty, causing his death. At around 12:40 p.m., the police arrested Nguyen Van Ty. At the police station, during the initial interrogation, Ty confessed to his crime.
