Sprint to the finish line on time

The Mang Yang - Ia Pa inter-district road project (provincial road 666) is about 33 km long in total, with an investment capital of nearly 196 billion VND, and will start construction in November 2023.

Provincial Road 666 starts at National Highway 19 and Truong Son Dong Road, passing through the communes of Kon Chieng, Kon Thup, De Ar, Lo Pang, Dak Djrang (belonging to the old Mang Yang district) and Po To commune (belonging to the old Ia Pa district). The main volume of the project includes 25.2 km of asphalt concrete road, 7.5 km of cement concrete road and 3 bridges.

Mr. Phan Huy Bao - Project Director (under the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board) said: "At this time, the construction site often has rain, we ask the contractor to take advantage of the dry time to work, ensuring progress. By September 3, the project has completed more than 72% of the volume, with the implementation value of more than 141 billion VND. The goal is to complete the entire project by January 2026".

Expressing his joy at the urgent investment in the road, Mr. Pham An Toan (Tan Phu village, Mang Yang commune) shared: My family works on the farm and often has to travel back and forth on Provincial Road 666. Previously, the road was damaged, muddy in the rainy season and dusty in the dry season. When I learned that the State was investing in upgrading the road, I and the people here were very happy, because not only was it convenient to travel, but it was also easier to transport agricultural products, which would improve the family economy .

According to Mr. Vo Le Xuan Thien - Chairman of Mang Yang Commune People's Committee, Provincial Road 666 has strategic significance in the socio-economic development of the locality, because it connects National Highway 19 with Truong Son Dong Road, especially the connection point of the provincial road with the future Quy Nhon - Pleiku Expressway is located in Mang Yang Commune.

“On this provincial road, the section passing through Mang Yang commune is more than 5 km long. If completed, this route will open up great opportunities for socio-economic development and trade of goods in the entire southern region of the old Mang Yang district,” Mr. Thien emphasized.

Similarly, the Eastern Economic Corridor Road Project (National Highway 19 bypass) is also being accelerated. This project is more than 15 km long, with a total investment of 1,325 billion VND, and is a key traffic project that plays a key role in connecting the region, passing through the communes of Bien Ho, Dak Doa, Chu Pah, etc.

By early September 2025, the value of the completed construction volume reached VND 510 billion/VND 884.823 billion. At the Bien Ho Bridge component, 510 Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company has completed many important items such as bored piles, bridge abutments, installation of arch beams and bridge decks, and is constructing the approach road.

Mr. Phan Tan Viet - Deputy Head of Management Department 2 (Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board) said: The Eastern Economic Corridor Road Project started construction at the end of 2022 and is expected to be completed in 2025, but the implementation process has encountered many difficulties and obstacles. The progress has been affected by land clearance and stormy weather, especially since July 1, 2025, when the rain has been prolonged.

In addition, capital from the provincial budget has not been fully allocated due to the decrease in land use fee revenue. We have recommended that the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Finance prioritize additional capital to ensure progress. A positive signal is that the site clearance work is expected to be completed before September 15, 2025, facilitating the final construction phase.

Resolute with key projects

Many other key public investment projects in Tay Gia Lai are also being accelerated to contribute to achieving the target by the end of the fourth quarter of 2025, the disbursement rate will reach over 90% of the capital plan and by the end of January 31, 2026, the disbursement will reach 100% such as: Nguyen Van Linh Road Project (Pleiku Ward); site clearance work for the Quy Nhon - Pleiku Expressway; New Urban Area CK54... These are all key projects and works with breakthrough significance in infrastructure development, creating momentum for socio-economic growth in the western region of the province.

According to the plan, the total public investment capital in 2025 of Gia Lai province is 13,983.7 billion VND. By the end of August 2025, the whole province had disbursed 8,443.8 billion VND, reaching 60.38% of the plan. Of which, the provincial budget capital reached 62.45%, the central budget capital (including ODA) reached 53.61%.

This is not a really positive result, partly because many key projects are still stuck in procedures, site clearance and slow construction progress; including key projects in the western part of the province.

In that situation, at the conference to assess the socio-economic situation in August and deploy key tasks in September 2025, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan requested leaders of departments, branches and localities to directly direct, inspect and review each project; make detailed disbursement plans for each stage to promptly remove difficulties; focus efforts on key infrastructure projects.

“The disbursement results will be the criteria to evaluate the level of task completion of the head. Localities must focus on accelerating site clearance work, ensuring conditions for starting new, large-scale, breakthrough projects in 2025,” the head of the provincial government emphasized the request.

With the strong direction of the provincial leaders and the efforts of investors and contractors, key projects in Tay Gia Lai are being accelerated. Completing on schedule will not only help Gia Lai achieve its public investment disbursement target but also open up opportunities for sustainable socio-economic development for the whole region.
