According to the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center - Institute of Earth Sciences, the first earthquake occurred at 1:36 a.m., with a magnitude of 4.5, a focal depth of 8.1 km, and a disaster risk level of 1. The second earthquake occurred at 2:30 a.m. the same day, with a magnitude of 2.8, a focal depth of about 8.2 km, and a disaster risk level of 0.

Aftershocks from the first earthquake were clearly felt by many people in Gia Lai . Mr. Pham Thu Cong (Thong Nhat Ward, Gia Lai Province) said that while he was sleeping, he heard the sound of the door and the metal roof shaking violently, many of his family members also had the same experience.

As reported by SGGP, Mang But commune (formerly Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province) has been experiencing continuous earthquakes recently. Experts say that this is a type of induced earthquake, most likely related to the operation of a hydroelectric reservoir.
