Overcome difficulties and rise up
Ms. Zo Ram Thi Nhia (Cot Buom village, Ka Dang commune) got married in 2010 when she was just 22 years old. The couple had no assets in hand, so they encouraged each other to try hard and overcome their fate to have a full life and send their children to school.
From the land her parents gave her, Nhia and her husband cleared a part of the area to grow longan trees, which was over 1 hectare. Through the Women's Union channel, she decided to borrow 50 million VND from the district's Social Policy Bank and invested the savings to plant 5 hectares of acacia.
The first acacia harvest was in 2017, the family spent some money to buy a TV, motorbike and other necessary items. In addition to growing longan and acacia trees, she also raises local black pigs, chickens and fish. After deducting expenses, the couple saves more than 70 million VND each year.
Now that the family economy has gradually stabilized, Nhia and her husband have the means to cover their daily expenses and purchase all the necessary equipment for their daily life. Thanks to their hard work and effective use of the social credit loan, the family has paid off the loan in full. Their children are well-behaved and study hard.

In Bhohoong village (Song Kon commune), the household of Clau Thi Bhop is a typical example of women overcoming their fate and effectively utilizing social credit loans. In the early days of their marriage, life was very difficult. The main source of income was from slash-and-burn farming, with only one crop of upland rice a year to look forward to. If the weather was not favorable, the whole family had to "eat cassava instead of rice".
In 2014, Ms. Bhop discussed with her husband to borrow 50 million VND through the poor household channel managed by the Women's Union, along with the money she had saved, to open a small grocery store and buy a motorbike to transport vegetables, meat, and fish to sell in each alley.
She also bought cheap damaged vegetables from the market to feed 10 piglets. After 4 months, the first batch of pigs was sold and earned more than 10.5 million VND. In 2015, the family cleared 3 hectares of upland land to thin rice and intercrop acacia. The first acacia harvest after 5 years brought in more than 51 million VND.
For a more fulfilling life
Another person who overcame difficulties is Ms. Bnuong Thi Hang (Pho village, Song Kon commune). Not long after giving birth to her first child, misfortune struck when her husband unfortunately passed away due to a serious illness. Since her husband passed away, Ms. Bnuong Thi Hang has become the pillar of the family and the support of her daughter.
After many years, she decided to remarry, her husband's family was also poor. After receiving advice from the Women's Union and guidance on using loans to invest in developing their livelihoods, the couple agreed to choose small-scale retail trading.
Through the Women's Union channel, she borrowed 50 million VND from the District Social Policy Bank Transaction Office to build a roof, cabinets and iron shelves to open a grocery store. The profit was modest, but providing a variety of products helped the family stabilize their income. The wife stayed at home to do business, while the husband applied to work for a company. Up to now, the family has escaped poverty sustainably.

In Ben Hien village (Ka Dang commune), the life of Ms. ALang Thi Chot's family has gradually improved from living hand to mouth. Previously, in 2010, she borrowed 50 million VND from the Transaction Office of the Social Policy Bank of Dong Giang district to invest in planting 10 hectares of acacia and expanding the longan garden to more than 2 hectares. At the same time, she raised pigs, grew upland rice and opened a grocery and beverage stall to increase her income.
With the income from the first acacia crop in 2015, Ms. Chot bought a TV, a motorbike, and some other household items. Currently, the family economy of this women's association member is gradually stabilizing with an annual income of hundreds of millions of dong.
Ms. Chot said: “I am very happy to have overcome difficult days, partly thanks to the care and support of the locality. Associations, especially the Women's Union of the commune and the community have actively guided and provided knowledge on economic development, saving expenses, taking care of building a happy family, andeducating children to be good and studious.”
