Mr. Liu Xiu Bao was absent from the urgent meeting of VBF.

Mr. Luu Tu Bao continued to be absent from the meeting on the afternoon of September 4 of the VBF Standing Committee.

The meeting was aimed at clarifying the reason for Mr. Liu Xiubao’s prolonged absence from late February 2025 until now, and at the same time discussing the management plan to ensure that VBF’s operations are not interrupted. However, the head of VBF did not attend, making the internal situation of VBF more tense.

According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Mixed Martial Arts Federation (HMMAF), Mr. Bao left Vietnam for the US at the end of March to take care of a relative's funeral. Since then, many members of VBF and HMMAF, where Mr. Bao is the first term President (2022-2027), have been unable to contact him.

The absence of 4-5 months has caused the operation and implementation of VBF plans to stagnate, although domestic tournaments are still taking place on schedule thanks to the temporary supervision of the Executive Committee. The Vietnam Sports Administration has also requested the VBF Executive Committee to continue to maintain stable operations while Mr. Bao is unable to return.

In addition to his two positions as Chairman at VBF and HMMAF, Mr. Luu Tu Bao is also the Executive Director of Saigon Sports Club. He was honored with the WBA Asia honorary belt in 2023 and is considered one of the most influential figures in the boxing and mixed martial arts movement in Vietnam.

However, the loss of contact with the head of VBF is creating many concerns about the stability of the organization, especially when Vietnamese boxing is entering the preparation stage for important international tournaments.
