Apple has just officially launched the "quad" iPhone 17 including: iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max with strong upgrades in both performance and design.
The iPhone 17 Series is not just a regular upgrade but a significant leap in thin and light design, breakthrough performance, improved camera system and new generation connectivity.
The presence of the iPhone Air also shows the effort to explore the need for ultra-thin design, while the iPhone Pro/Pro Max still plays a role for professional users. All contribute to creating the most comprehensive new generation of iPhone ever from Apple.
iPhone 17 has a 120 Hz screen
Although the iPhone 17's appearance has not changed like the previous generation, its configuration has been strongly upgraded.
The iPhone 17 retains the familiar design with a vertical dual camera cluster, but the screen is upgraded to 6.3 inches OLED with thinner bezels, supporting a 120 Hz refresh rate (ProMotion) and a maximum brightness of 3000 nits. This screen also supports always-on mode to display the lock screen in a dim state.
A new anti-reflective coating makes the display easier to read in bright light both indoors and outdoors. A new Ceramic Shield 2 glass also makes the phone more resistant to drops and impacts. The iPhone 17 continues to be IP68 water and dust resistant.
The rear camera system remains the same with a 48 MP main sensor and 12 MP telephoto, but the front camera is upgraded to 24 MP.
Notably, this year Apple has upgraded the selfie camera to a square sensor that is twice as large as the previous generation, helping to make photos sharp at every angle without having to rotate the camera horizontally, and AI can automatically expand the angle for group shots.
In terms of performance, the iPhone 17 is equipped with an A19 chip with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of internal memory. The A19 chip has a six-core CPU design. Apple also said that the GPU performance has also been upgraded to be 20% faster than the A18 chip of last year's iPhone 16.
The battery capacity of the iPhone 17 has not been announced by Apple, but it is expected to remain at 3600 mAh like the iPhone 16, with longer battery life thanks to ProMotion. Apple also emphasizes that when watching videos , the efficiency of the ProMotion screen allows the iPhone 17 to watch videos continuously for up to 8 hours on a single charge. Charging speed is improved, 50% battery in 20 minutes. Apple also promises to support iOS for at least 6 years with additional security patches.
iPhone 17 has 5 color options: Lavender, Mist Blue, Sage, Black and White with the lowest memory of 256 GB. In Vietnam, iPhone 17 has 2 memory versions of 256 GB and 512 GB with expected prices from 24.99 million VND (256 GB, 512 GB). Notably, this year Apple has completely eliminated the 128 GB version on all models.
iPhone Air - The thinnest iPhone in history
Apple officially announced the iPhone Air, marking a major turning point in the company's product strategy. This is the thinnest iPhone ever, measuring just 5.6 mm thick and weighing 145 grams. Apple said it is also the most durable iPhone design, thanks to a titanium frame sandwiched between Ceramic Shield on both sides.
The iPhone Air has a 6.5-inch ProMotion screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits, and Always-on Display support. The device runs on the most powerful A19 Pro chip today, with a C1x modem that is twice as fast as the previous generation and an N1 chip that supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.
Despite its ultra-thin design, Apple says the iPhone Air still offers "all-day" battery life with up to 40 hours of continuous video playback. To optimize battery capacity, Apple has removed the physical SIM slot, supporting only eSIM. The accompanying iOS 26 also adds an adaptive power saving mode.
The iPhone Air's camera is streamlined, with just a single 48 MP camera on the back with a 12 MP telephoto lens and an 18 MP selfie camera with Center Stage on the front. A new feature of the iPhone Air is the ability to combine the front and rear cameras, supporting simultaneous recording of both the user and the scene in front. The iPhone Air will be available in four colors: space black, cloud white, light yellow and light blue.
The product has a starting price of 31.99 million VND for the 256GB version, pre-orders open from today and officially on sale from September 19.
iPhone 17 Pro Duo - The first time iPhone price is up to 64 million VND
While the iPhone Air model attracts a lot of attention thanks to its ultra-thin design, as usual, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max duo also attract a lot of attention from users.
iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are "transformed" with a completely new design and a series of powerful improvements in performance, camera and battery life.
These two models are equipped with the A19 Pro chip - Apple's most powerful and energy-efficient processor ever, along with a vapor chamber cooling system integrated into the unibody aluminum frame, helping to maintain high performance for a long time.
The Super Retina XDR display comes in two sizes, 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, with a maximum outdoor brightness of up to 3,000 nits, 1.5 times higher than last year's iPhone 16 Pro duo. The iPhone 17 Pro duo is also equipped with a Ceramic Shield 2 coating used on both the front and back, providing 3 times more scratch resistance and better crack resistance than the previous generation.
The most obvious change this year is the significant redesign of the rear camera cluster. iPhone. The rear camera cluster will be spread out across the entire horizontal part of the device instead of just a square cluster in one corner of the device from the iPhone 11 generation.
Apple claims this is the best camera system ever on an iPhone. The iPhone 17 Pro has three 48 MP Fusion sensors, including a new generation main, ultra-wide and telephoto lens.
This camera cluster provides an experience equivalent to 8 professional lenses, in which the telephoto lens supports up to 8x optical zoom at 200mm focal length - the highest level on an iPhone ever.
Additionally, the 18 MP front camera with Center Stage has also been upgraded to support portraits, group selfies, and 4K HDR video recording with better anti-shake capabilities.
In addition, the iPhone 17 Pro supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread for the first time thanks to the N1 connection chip developed by Apple.
In terms of video recording, the iPhone 17 Pro is the first smartphone to support ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, and genlock - a professional multi-camera video synchronization feature. These are tools for filmmakers and content creators.
Apple also confirmed that the iPhone 17 Pro Max has the largest battery ever on an iPhone, although the exact number has not been announced.
The iPhone 17 Pro also marks Apple's expansion of eSIM-only models, with larger battery capacity thanks to the removal of the physical SIM slot. However, according to many sources, the Vietnamese market still sells versions with physical SIMs.
The device runs iOS 26 with the new Liquid Glass interface and a series of Apple Intelligence features, including live translation and AI tools that process images and text right on the device.
This year, Apple also boldly cut many colors of the old iPhone Pro generation. The iPhone 17 Pro duo will come in three colors including silver, blue and a pretty eye-catching orange. This year's iPhone 17 Pro line is more expensive than the 2024 generation, but in return, Apple has increased the default storage capacity to 256GB.
The iPhone 17 Pro starts at VND 34.99 million for the 256 GB version, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at VND 37.99 million and supports up to 2 TB of storage. Notably, the price for the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 2 TB of storage is up to VND 64 million, the highest ever.
