"Eye-catching" pineapple growing model of an 8X farmer in Ha Tinh

(Baohatinh.vn) - After more than 1 year of implementation, the pineapple growing model of Mr. Tran Van Cuong (born in 1985, Ky Hoa commune, Ha Tinh province) has achieved positive results, promising to bring high economic efficiency.

Participating in the pineapple growing model in association with Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company ( Ninh Binh ) in April 2024, Mr. Tran Van Cuong's family rented 5 hectares of hilly land in Tan Son village, Ky Hoa commune to renovate and sign a contract to grow Queen pineapple. According to the association contract, during the production process, Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company will directly supply seeds, provide technical support and purchase all products for growers.

In addition, from March 2025, Mr. Cuong also cooperated with the North Central Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology to grow 3 hectares of MD2 pineapple variety using Israeli technology.

For each hectare of pineapple, Mr. Cuong invested nearly 120 million VND to improve the soil, fertilize... Thanks to proper care, 8 hectares of pineapple grew very well, expected to yield the highest yield of about 50 tons/ha and bring in an income of about 300 million VND/ha.

Mr. Tran Van Cuong shared: "Thanks to good seed sources, suitable fertilizers, favorable weather and regular monitoring and technical support from the partner unit, after more than 1 year of planting, the pineapple plants have grown and developed well. Initially, I saw that the pineapple plants have adapted to the climate and soil conditions here. On the other hand, thanks to joint production, regular support from the government and businesses, especially the guaranteed product consumption, I am quite assured...". Mr. Tran Van Cuong's 8 hectares of pineapples focus on two varieties of Queen and MD2 pineapples. After a period of planting, it shows the suitability of the soil and climate of pineapples in Ky Hoa land. The pineapples bear large, even fruits, when ripe, they have a rich sweet taste, meeting export standards.

It is known that the pineapple growing model was implemented as a process of struggling to find an economic development direction suitable to the potential and advantages of the previous leaders (old Ky Anh district), especially in the condition that the area of hills and forests in the area is still abandoned or is growing plants with low economic efficiency.

From the model of Mr. Tran Van Cuong, it is hoped that, with close association with businesses, pineapple will bring positive signals in economic development, contributing to increasing income for people in mountainous areas in Ha Tinh.

What we appreciate about Mr. Tran Van Cuong's model is not only its economic efficiency but also the pioneering spirit and daring spirit of a young man from the countryside. The bold conversion of inefficient cropland to large-scale pineapple cultivation, in association with purchasing enterprises, has affirmed a new and sustainable way of doing things, avoiding the situation of "good harvest, low price" that has long existed in agriculture.

In addition, this model is consistent with the orientation of developing green agriculture and circular agriculture that the Party Committee of Ky Hoa commune has set out during its term. From the reality of pineapple cultivation, farmers have clearly seen the benefits of production linked to the value chain....
