Vietnam Boxing Federation speaks out about Mr. Luu Tu Bao's case

The Vietnam Boxing Federation has issued a press release regarding the information that President Liu Xiu Bao has been missing for many months and is believed to be involved in international crime.

On the afternoon of September 5, the Vietnam Boxing Federation (VBF) term II (2023 - 2028) held an Executive Committee meeting with the presence of 25/30 members. The meeting was held online.

VBF's press release stated that the conference discussed and agreed on activities for 2025 and media reports about Mr. Liu Xiu Bao - President of the Federation.

Mr. Liu Xiu Bao has to deal with some personal matters in the US so he cannot return to Vietnam for the time being.

Regarding information related to the leader, VBF said that Mr. Luu Tu Bao has been absent from Vietnam for more than half a year and has not directly managed the activities of the federation. This has caused a stir in public opinion and unofficial information about Mr. Bao's involvement with international criminal organizations.

Therefore, the Standing Committee and the Executive Committee of VBF brought this issue to the conference and concluded: "Mr. Liu Xiubao went to the US for family matters since February 2025 and had to deal with some personal matters, so he is temporarily unable to return to Vietnam.

Mr. Luu Tu Bao will sign the authorization letter to manage VBF's activities for Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung - Vice President and General Secretary of VBF, in accordance with the regulations in the operating charter approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs . The time from receiving the authorization letter until the end of March 2026.

During the time of not receiving the authorization letter from the Chairman, the Standing Committee and the Executive Committee of VBF unanimously delegate the executive authority to Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung.

The Federation is responsible for ensuring the organization of competitions for provincial, municipal and sectoral units in tournaments within the national competition system; ensuring the establishment and international competition of the Vietnamese team.

Any activities outside this scope of a federation member are personal matters and the individual must be responsible for his or her actions before the law.

VBF has not received official notice from the authorities.

VBF said that up to this point, the federation has not received any official notification from the authorities about the personal activities of former president Liu Xiu Bao, or during the time he was not in Vietnam.

Mr. Luu Tu Bao's personal and judicial records were confirmed by the Ministry of Justice , the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before he ran for the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Boxing Federation for the second term (2023 - 2028).

VBF agrees that in the case of Mr. Luu Tu Bao, if there is an official conclusion from domestic and international authorities about the violation of the law, the Standing Committee and the Executive Committee will organize a conference to request permission to hold an extraordinary congress to elect a new president, ensuring the smooth direction and implementation of all activities of the federation in accordance with legal regulations and still ensuring the operating budget of VBF until the end of the second term (2023 - 2028).

VBF said it will report in writing to the leaders of the Vietnam Sports Administration, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Home Affairs and relevant authorities on the above contents.
