On the afternoon of August 22 in Hanoi , after the premiere in Ho Chi Minh City the same morning, singer Hoa Minzy continued to introduce the MV Pain in the Middle of Peace . This is not only an independent music product, but also the theme song of the movie Red Rain.

At the launch, Hoa Minzy shared that she considered the MV as a tribute to heroic Vietnamese mothers, as well as a gift to her late grandfather - Major Nguyen Van Ki - a veteran who participated in many major military campaigns.
According to Hoa Minzy, her passionate patriotism was partly nurtured by family tradition and pride in being the granddaughter of a hero. She also shared that her grandfather was supposed to be present at the press conference to witness her joy. However, the singer’s grandfather passed away a few days ago due to old age.
“Today, my grandfather should be sitting here proudly, witnessing the joy of this meaningful MV. Usually, he always smiles gently and encourages me, saying, “Our hometown people are very proud, everyone praises me.”
However, in this memorable moment, he could no longer say a word…”, Hoa Minzy said with a choked voice. After the show, the female singer immediately returned to her hometown to mourn...

The Pain of Peace was directed by Nhu Dang with the setting at Truong Son Cemetery - Quang Tri and Duong Lam ancient village (Hanoi). The crew used some scenes from the movie Red Rain to insert into the video to talk about the cruelty of war. The song was composed by musician Nguyen Van Chung, after nearly a week of researching and watching movies to nurture his emotions.
Not following the entire main storyline of Red Rain , Hoa Minzy and the crew chose a separate section to make the soundtrack, the back story of Captain Ta (played by actress Nam Phuong).
In the MV, People's Artist Nhu Quynh plays the mother, while Hoa Minzy transforms into a pregnant wife, sadly seeing her husband off to the battlefield. As the years passed, when the child turned 3 years old, the whole family went to the village to welcome Ta, but instead of the joy of reunion, his comrades brought back the news that he had sacrificed himself on the battlefield...
Sharing at the launch, Hoa Minzy emotionally said that Pain in the Middle of Peace is the "emotional knot" in her artistic journey.
“I am lucky and grateful to have been allowed by director Dang Thai Huyen to use footage from Red Rain . Thanks to that, many audiences who cannot go to the cinema can still imagine the fierceness of the 81 days and nights of Quang Tri Citadel.
The creative idea for the MV came from the scene where the character Ta sacrificed himself in the film. I wanted to recreate the image of a pregnant wife giving birth at the same time her husband sacrificed himself. That is the message: Independence is exchanged for blood, peace is exchanged for pain", the female singer confided.
Hoa Minzy also revealed that the character of the wife was inspired by her own mother - who was pregnant but still worked in the fields until the last month - to recreate the image of a resilient woman who silently sacrificed herself in the rear.

That emotion was also fully witnessed by musician Nguyen Van Chung - the song's author. He recounted that during the recording, Hoa Minzy burst into tears many times. At the climax, she collapsed and covered her face, causing the entire studio to fall silent.
“Not only me but the whole crew was moved to tears. Hoa Minzy’s sincere emotions made the work more weighty,” said Nguyen Van Chung.
According to musician Nguyen Van Chung, the journey to write Pain in the Middle of Peace was not easy. He confessed that he was initially hesitant when accepting to write the soundtrack for the film Red Rain.
“I was not born during the war, so I was afraid that I could not write truthfully. But when I saw the documentary footage with my own eyes and felt the pain of the mothers, I felt compelled to pick up the pen. And when the melody and lyrics rang out, I believed that it was what needed to be said,” musician Nguyen Van Chung confided.
“At first, some people commented that the title Pain in Peace was a bit heavy in times of peace, but Hoa Minzy and I were determined to keep it. Because peace does not come naturally, it must be exchanged for many sacrifices. If we deny that pain for the joy of peace, we will feel guilty. I wrote this song with my feelings for my mother and many heroic Vietnamese mothers, not based on the movie,” musician Nguyen Van Chung added.
The MV launch event of Pain in Peace also had the special participation of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Tran Thi Can, from Bac Ninh province. Born in 1925, turning 100 this year, she is a living testament to the noble sacrifices of Vietnamese mothers in wars to protect the Fatherland.
