According to the Investment Plan for Tran De Seaport by 2030, Tran De offshore port will be invested with 2-4 general wharves, receiving general cargo ships, containers with a capacity of up to 100,000 tons, bulk cargo ships with a capacity of up to 160,000 tons, meeting the demand for goods from 24.6 million tons to 32.5 million tons.

By 2050, continue to develop new ports to meet the demand for cargo throughput with an average growth rate of about 5.5%/year to 6.1%/year. Tran De offshore port is expected to develop about 14 wharves to meet the growing demand for cargo.

At the survey, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Do Thanh Binh requested relevant departments and agencies to coordinate with localities to review and propose updating local plans in accordance with the detailed planning of Tran De Seaport, and advise the Party Committee to promote investment calling. At the same time, specifically determine the forest land area in the planning area to implement the onshore transit port at Tran De estuary. Continue to propose management and land allocation in accordance with the provisions of the law on land, ensuring synchronous development of the port and infrastructure connecting to the port.

The delegation also surveyed the current state of emergency landslides in the sea dike section (from culverts 13 to 14). Through the survey, Mr. Do Thanh Binh directed local departments and agencies to proactively coordinate to prevent, combat and respond to landslides to minimize damage to people's property. Build a multi-layered sea dike protection system, reduce waves and restore mangrove forests to stabilize the coastline.

During the survey at Wind Power Plant No. 7, the delegation heard information from the investor about the implementation results. Wind Power Plant No. 7, invested by Soc Trang Energy Joint Stock Company, has a capacity of 29.4 MW, including 7 Vestas turbines of 4.2 MW/turbine. The total investment is 1,486 billion VND, started on September 25, 2020 and connected to the grid, and was recognized for commercial operation on October 24, 2021.

In 2024, the project generated 98.5 million kWh of electricity to the grid, equivalent to an industrial production value of nearly VND90 billion. The project is completing the required procedures to start construction of Wind Power Plant No. 7, Phase 2, in the fourth quarter of 2025, with a capacity of 90 MW and a total investment of about VND3,800 billion. The project is expected to be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Mr. Do Thanh Binh noted that when implementing a wind power project, the investor not only has technical and financial responsibilities but also has obligations to the locality where the project is located. At the same time, he suggested that the investor focus on implementing the wind power construction roadmap in compliance with the law and planning, ensuring harmony of interests and contributions to local socio -economic development.
