Over the years, officers and soldiers of Long Binh Border Guard Station have closely coordinated with the border protection force of neighboring Cambodia in the spirit of understanding, respect and mutual support. The two sides regularly organize foreign affairs activities such as meetings, friendly exchanges, sending letters and information via hotlines to promptly discuss issues of mutual concern. Thereby, many incidents related to border management and protection have been handled quickly, preventing the situation from becoming more complicated or forming hot spots in the border area.
In addition, the two sides have also effectively implemented twinning activities, diplomatic visits, cultural and sports exchanges; given gifts, provided medical examinations and treatment, and distributed free medicine to people on traditional holidays and New Year. Joint patrol activities are also maintained regularly to strengthen law enforcement, prevent and combat crimes, coordinate in timely handling of situations occurring on the border; strictly implement treaties, agreements and protocols on border demarcation and marker planting that the two countries signed in 2019.
At the Long Binh - Chrey Thom friendship bridge, the Long Binh Border Guard Station Command met to discuss daily work with the border protection force of Kandal province - Kingdom of Cambodia.
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Viet Duc - Head of Long Binh Border Guard Station shared: “Due to the nature of the border located in the middle of the river, the two countries' authorities have agreed to set up markers on both sides of the river. Previously, people used to cross the river according to traditional customs, affecting security and order and making it difficult to control. In order to create conditions for people to live, fish and raise aquatic products in accordance with regulations, the unit has closely coordinated with the neighboring forces to promote propaganda and mobilize people to participate in protecting the border and preserving the original state of the riverbed.”
The Long Binh Border Guard Station regularly patrols and reminds people not to fish, farm illegally or exploit minerals that affect the flow; not to arbitrarily anchor vehicles or transport goods in violation of the border. The unit also coordinates with Cambodian authorities to grasp the situation of residents and promptly handle violations of border regulations on the river.
In the fight against drugs and crime, the two sides have established an effective coordination mechanism such as sharing information on the activities of criminal networks and gangs, at the same time building professional plans and jointly establishing special projects. In 2024, Long Binh Border Guard Station coordinated with forces inside and outside the province to grasp the internal and external border situation, together with the authorities and forces on the other side to detect and handle 81 cases, with 152 subjects involved in acts of buying, selling, storing, illegally using drugs, violating border regulations, illegally transporting currency, smuggling and trade fraud. The seized exhibits included 32.2454g of various drugs and many prohibited goods. Notably, during the peak period of the fight against crime in 2024, the unit successfully seized 22.090kg of various synthetic drugs, an outstanding achievement in ensuring security in border areas.
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Viet Duc said that in the coming time, the Long Binh Border Guard Station will focus on promoting propaganda and mobilizing people and passengers to strictly implement treaties and agreements on border area regulations. At the same time, it will strengthen coordination to grasp and exchange information related to security and order on both sides; together promptly handle the plots and activities of hostile forces, and prevent propaganda to divide the solidarity and friendship between the two countries. "In handling violations of border regulations, we agree with the other side to useeducational and persuasive measures mainly, and absolutely not to use force," Lieutenant Colonel Tran Viet Duc affirmed.
