54 bodies found, 2 victims still missing

This afternoon (September 16), speaking with reporters of Giao thong Newspaper, the leader of the People's Committee of Nguyen Binh District, Cao Bang Province said that up to now, 2 victims of the passenger bus and some cars that were swept away by landslide in Khuoi Ngoa Hamlet, Ca Thanh Commune have not been found. Currently, the authorities are still actively searching for the victims.

To date, authorities have found 54 bodies of victims in landslides in Nguyen Binh district, of which more than half were victims on passenger buses and cars swept away by floods after landslides.

In addition, authorities promptly rescued 15 injured people. There are currently 2 missing people in Nguyen Binh district.

In recent days, heavy rain has continued to fall in Nguyen Binh district, causing some areas in Ca Thanh commune to be at risk of landslides.

Faced with this situation, the military has also supported people to set up tents to stabilize their lives. Local authorities are actively coordinating with functional forces and people to survey and find new resettlement sites for households affected by the disaster.

Previously, as Giao thong Newspaper reported: At around 5:30 a.m. on September 9, at Km 180+650, a serious landslide occurred on the road surface, pushing a passenger bus with license plate 11B-002.11 and a car with license plate 11A-097.22 into the stream, burying about 5 motorbikes.

Immediately after the incident, local authorities and functional agencies actively carried out search and rescue work, supported households to overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives.
