Female director defrauded other people's land, embezzling nearly 10 billion VND

On the evening of February 28, the People's Court of Da Nang City concluded the first instance trial of the female director's fraud case involving the short sale of other people's land.

The People's Court sentenced Huynh Thi Bon (44 years old, residing in Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang City) to 16 years in prison for fraud and property appropriation.

According to the indictment, Bon opened Huynh Ngoc Lieu Real Estate Company Limited, operating real estate trading in Lien Chieu District, through which he became acquainted with a customer, Ms. HBN (64 years old, residing on 3/2 Street, Hai Chau District, Da Nang City).

Huynh Thi Bon received 16 years in prison.

In 2021, Bon lost money in real estate business and went bankrupt, so he came up with the idea of defrauding Ms. N. to get money to pay off debt and spend.

Bon's trick is to claim to be the owner of many plots of land in Hoa Hiep Ward, Hoa Lien Ward, offering prices lower than the market price to scam many people.

Through that, Bon committed 16 fraud cases, appropriating nearly 10 billion VND in land purchase deposits from victims.

Of which, Ms. N. was scammed the most with 8.15 billion VND, other victims were scammed from 160 to 700 million VND.

During the transactions, Bon 12 times asked his lover, D.D.H (53 years old, living in Lien Chieu District) to write a receipt and sign in the witness section.

However, the investigation determined that H. worked as a taxi driver, wrote the papers at Bon's request, did not know that Bon had tricks and fraudulent behavior when buying and selling land, did not benefit from testifying, and had no signs of complicity, so the police did not handle the case.

According to the People's Court, in this case, Huynh Thi Bon committed a crime professionally and committed it many times, so she must bear aggravating circumstances for criminal responsibility.

During the investigation as well as in court, Huynh Thi Bon confessed to all her crimes.

In addition to the 16-year prison sentence for fraud and property appropriation, Bon was also forced to continue to compensate the remaining amount to the victims.
