Improving the capacity to use AI in journalism

On September 8, in Hanoi, the World and Vietnam Newspaper Party Cell organized a thematic meeting "Application of AI in content production".

This is the second specialized activity related to AI (artificial intelligence) organized by the World and Vietnam Newspaper Party Cell.

Participants include newspaper leaders, editors, reporters and collaborators working at the newspaper.

Speaking at the opening of the professional exchange session, Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, Member of the Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Party Cell Secretary, Editor-in-Chief of The World and Vietnam Newspaper, said that in the modern press environment, each reporter and editor needs to equip themselves with knowledge and skills in using AI, which is a prerequisite to not fall behind.

In recent times, The World and Vietnam Newspaper has continuously updated versions of the content management system (CMS) with modern AI integration to serve the operational process.

Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Truong Son emphasized the importance of sharing experience and knowledge in applying AI among members of the Newspaper to maximize the advantages of AI in journalism.

During the 2-hour session, editors, reporters and technical staff discussed and answered questions about new software features to optimize the application of AI in content management systems.

In addition to sharing trends and solutions, editors and reporters are guided by the technical department on how to integrate AI into specific tasks in content management.

Some typical applications introduced include: Automatic spelling and grammar checking using natural language processing (NLP) models, AI translation tools that support translating articles into multiple languages ​​with increasing accuracy. In addition, the audio recording editing/tape editing feature is highly appreciated in supporting reporters and editors to quickly process interview content.

At the end of the discussion, Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Truong Son highly appreciated the advantages brought by AI, and at the same time suggested that the team of reporters and editors actively apply AI features in their work to improve work efficiency.

In the context of global digital transformation of journalism, proactively approaching and embracing new technology not only helps editors and reporters of The Gioi and Viet Nam Newspapers keep up with trends but is also an important step in building a modern, professional, humane and socially serving newsroom.

The thematic meeting in response to the "Digital Education for All" movement launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in early July 2025, was organized according to plan No. 01-KH/BCĐTW dated March 21, 2025 of the Central Steering Committee on science , technology, innovation and digital transformation development.
