Exchange trash for gifts at 'Green Living Festival'

Ho Chi Minh City Many people brought plastic cases and electronic devices to exchange gifts, learn about environmental protection, and fight against plastic waste at the "Green Living Festival" on the morning of June 3.

The 3rd "Green Living Day" event in Ho Chi Minh City in 2023 will take place from 7:00 a.m. on June 3 to 5:00 p.m. on June 4 at Khanh Hoi Park (District 4). The program will have many activities aimed at protecting the environment, contributing to promoting a friendly lifestyle and changing habits that negatively affect the community.

The weekend festival attracted many people to come and have fun, exchange, learn knowledge as well as access environmentally friendly services and products. Many families brought their children to experience programs such as exchanging plastic shells, electronic waste for gifts... After the end of the activity, the waste will be transferred to the recycling plant. Some areas are also arranged as green playgrounds, environmental clubs attracting many young people.

"Since I have time off from work, I take my two children to play, helping them experience and learn more about protecting the environment and not littering," said Mr. Van Luc, a resident of District 4.

This year's "Green Living Festival" has 39 businesses, organizations and units from many fields participating. Of which, 48 exhibition booths are arranged in many areas, introducing programs and activities towards environmental protection along with environmentally friendly products, technologies, services, waste collection...

According to Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Toan Thang, the population density in the city is 15 times higher than the national average, putting great pressure on urban infrastructure, including ensuring environmental sanitation and controlling pollution. Currently, reducing environmental pollution is one of 13 breakthrough projects and programs of Ho Chi Minh City. This is being focused on, with the goal of ensuring sanitation, increasing trees, developing green transportation... towards building an environmentally friendly city, adapting to climate change.

According to Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong, the city currently has 1,920 clean, green, environmentally friendly construction sites and 516 residential areas recognized as clean and beautiful. This is a joint effort of the entire city with the hope that people and businesses will continue to protect the environment and fight pollution caused by plastic waste with specific, practical daily solutions and initiatives.
